stfu grandpa, and go eat another jello pudding pop

Oh snap!

Agreed! Instead of giving speeches putting down the struggles/challenges of African Americans, he should be working with leaders and other organizations on providing meaningful solutions and/or assistance with the accumulated wealth he has massed on the support of the very people he degrades. His blatant disrespect for his own people is pitiful and inexcusable. For that reason alone, I am no longer a Bill Cosby fan or supporter.

Maybe he should learn how to shake down ppl like Jesse and Al.

 WWJD? I am a tad fuzzy on the bridge you are building from Bill Cosby to Jesse and Al in reference to my statement and this thread. Do explain...

Doesn't really have much to explain as to the dynamics of race in this country other than serving up some extremely agreeable reasons for the perpetuation of a complete lack for social morals and skills that needs to obviously start at home. I remember the speech and the heat Cosby took for pronouncing such a strong condemnation of the lack of parenting in the African American community.

I also think that this is something not unique to one particular racial community as bad parenting can be quite universal.

Perhaps one reason one community suffers so much more (in apparent observations that can be quite racially charged depending on the observer) than others lies in the very history of race that those that attack the victimization of a community decry as ridiculous.

This is cause and effect at play once again in society- this time with race as the variable.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

Wow. I think he's absolutely right in both his observations, and his conclusions. Where are the parents? Why indoctrinate children to be "victims"? Why not take control of their situation and instill a more positive notion into the minds of the children, with a sprinkle of discipline?

What's wrong with that message?

Nothing! However, where was his outspoken and over the top condemnation of the plight of the African American community during the time when he was truly in the limelight. IMO, he was more concerned about accumulating wealth than speaking out or truly making a difference because it would have weakened his foot hole into the communities in which supported him. From my prospective, this is more than likely another platform for him to propel himself into the public eye for whatever reason. Who knows... I just don't buy his sincerity. If he feels so strongly about the obvious troubles in the African community, do more than just flap your gums (which correlates to why many folks do not support Sen. Obama (including yourself)... He's flappin his gums with no actions backing his statements).

One thing is causation, the other is effect, and in between you have maintenance. That is what Cosby is attacking.

yah...use Jesse Jackson...or even Al Sharpton as your role model. maybe Mike Tyson.

Or some rapper who refers to his sisters as bitches and ho's.

There are 2 17 years old kids in jail in Las Vegas in the last month for murder/robbery. These kids are shocked to find out that they will never get out of prision and cry every day....where were the parents I ask yu.

I finally got rid of the never ending money drain. I called the plumber, and got the problem fixed. I wish her the best.

Jesse, Al, and yes Wright all indoctinate children into the "victimization culture". It's bad enough they bring along some brain dead adults with them, but the children?

I can't even fathom what it does to a child's brain to be told from cradle to teens that they're going to be victimized by whites, their government, both local and federal, and are just generally screwed.....

Their goverment invented the Aids Virus to control people of color......Adults can deflect craziness such as that, but children?

So what's the "extremely complex, multifaceted issue"? Please name a few facets.........How about a complex.

Well, you seem to be the resident expert on bad parenting in the inner city. What's your analysis of, say, the distribution of education funding vis-a-vis economic opportunity for those living in urban poverty? After all, Cosby's speech was given at an event celebrating supposed educational equity, so let's start there.

Well, isn’t “just blame the white guy” an attempt to oversimplify an extremely complex, multifaceted issue?

Where did I say that?

Don't you love this analysis of African American reality (here and on TV)... by what seems to be a few too many white folks? Not to take analytical skills away from us here... but c'mon folks...

Plus there's this whole "innocent" culture that is apparently in full bloom that negates history for favor of more cheap politics. Stick to Cosby's words to look at the perpetuation of what he criticizes, not to cover up reality and history. At least that's my take of it.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.
