It's just the right thing to do, IMO.

Nagi, I agree that a thank you is the right thing but I don't think one should expect it nor be too put off when a thank you is not forthcoming. Politeness can go along way toward developing good relationships here and in most aspects of our lives.

NavarreMan,

Thank you.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

Thank you's are cool, but it bugs me more when someone asks the same question (or states the should-now be corrected info) over and over again despite it being answered a few times over previously. I just wind up ignoring the subsequent requests.

I put no. Sometimes I don't even know if they have thanked me, because I don't always have time to go back and read that thread after I've answered the question.

It doesn't bother me...I don't write much visa info these days but I answer other questions on the boards sometimes and ask questions. I think a "thank you everyone" is fine instead of having to thank each one individually, especially if you get lots of responses.

I don't know if I've offered any advice yet (since I'm pretty new to it all). If I did put my two cents in and didn't get a thank you, I don't think it would bother me much. I know how hectic all of this can get. I do however try to make it a point to thank anyone who offers answers to the questions I post (but I've probably forgotten to do this once or twice  ) So... I put no but I think it's polite to post thank yous.

After you and/or other members have gone out of their way to politely respond to another member's question, does it bother you that they don't post a thank you for your input?

I don't offer input. I try to be as unhelpful as possible. So I don't know. You have no choice for N/A. Therefore this poll is flawed.

No, but thank you for asking. I would imagine that you have not given much thought to thanking those who have taken part in your poll. I also do not expect a waiter to follow me to the parking lot and fall to their knees thanking me for the tip I left for them. Most information here is gratuitous and I do not think most expect a thank you, but it never hurts to be grateful and to express that gratitude.

:o

*contemplates another poll on un-called for rude posts*

I didn't find that post to be rude at all. So everyone sees things differently, but I would agree with him. I don't really need to have someone tell me thank you. The sharing of information is the purpose of this board. Thank yous are nice in this instance, but I wouldn't react or be upset if I didn't get one. Honestly, I probably wouldn't even notice if I got one or not.

No. I am far more bothered by people that attack other posters trying to offer suggestions or words of encouragement.

It's okay Bassi and Zainab... my response was actually kind of tongue-in-cheek, which I think was how NavarreMan's post was too. :)

Well, everybody. At this point in time I would like to thank you all for taking part in the poll. It was very kind of you to participate and offer a response. Thank you.

I intentionally omitted an option for anything but a yes or no response. As you know, pollsters do this on purpose. Your input, as always, is appreciated. :hehe:
