Thank you kindly, WOM! I read that too somewhere that now it is 2 to 3 months, but I thought that cant be right. Who knows, everything changes so fast now days.

Anyway, thanks for the reply. Heck, we waited this long for the visa, I guess waiting a bit longer wont kill us. But God knows best!

I thought the K-1 was 2-3 months and the CR-1 was 6 months.. but it could just be me confusing the 90 day permit the K-1 gives in teh US. Our Cr-1 was valid for 6 months of entry, and the GC date is based on when he entered not when the visa was issued.

None of my posts have ever been helpful. Be forewarned.

Normally, you have 6 months to enter the country after you recieve a K-1 visa. Once you enter the country you have 90 days to marry the petitioner and that is how long the I-94 is valid after entry. There is also no re-entry with this visa (even within the original 6 month period).

I kinda look at it as you have 6 months to activate the visa. Once you enter, the visa activates and it doesn't matter how long you had left on that 6 months, you have only 90 days left to get married, SSN, ect... and you will be out of status after those 90 days if you do not have a pending AOS.

Thank you, PB and Julianna. My Fiance asked me that question today and I was not sure how to answer him correctly.

Aymerlu, VJ is a complete MESS today!

As far as I know, travel on a CR-1/IR-1, K-3 or K-1 is supposed to take place within 6 months of the date the visa is issued. Maybe sometimes things change, but as far as I know, this is supposed to be the rule:

I'm searching around the guides to find the statement (the search is down so it's not easy) -- but so far, I found this:

The visa must be used within 6 months of being issued. The fiance(e) is allowed to enter the US once with the visa, with the purpose of getting married, which must happen within 90 days. The fiance(e) is not allowed to travel freely into and out of the US with the visa, it is good for one entry only. If there is a K2 visa involved, the K2 may enter up to a year after the K1. The K2 cannot enter the US before the K1.

VJ is offically putting me over the edge today. What's up? I can't get logged in and when I do get logged in, it's only for a short time.

1) it was wicked slow due to something ewok did this morning

2) there's too many flippin' threads going on in mena (my personal opinion though lately i just like things to be kept simple)

Too many threads about the same topic. It's quite annoying and I'm not one to be toyed with right now!!!!!!!!!!

Couldn't we get all the visa threads, warm and fuzzy #######, and Arab hate in one thread? Sorry but I'm in a mood.

Holy Crow! It took me hours to get back on VJ!

I have a question....I was told by DOS that my Fiance's passport was already stamped with the visa. We know we have to wait for Cairo to send it back to him, and we know that could be a long time from now. My question is, isnt the visa good for 6 months on a K-1, i.e., he has 6 months in which to use it to come here? So when does that date kick in? Starting yesterday? Or will it kick in once the visa is in his hand?

I know, stupid question.

yay nagi!!!!!!!

Well, no, I have not made plans for anything cos I was not expecting things to move this quick. I never once thought of wedding plans, plane tickets, and what nots . You cant plan a dang thing being on AP.Heck, with 2 years of waiting, it just becomes normal not to plan ahead. I guess I will have to start thinking about all of this now. Oi ! I need some time to get out of shock, though. And too, My Fiance needs time to close out his life over there, which Im sure will take time. Egyptians dont move too fast. After all look what happened to them when they were busy chasing the Israelites when the Red Sea parted.
