I also agree Melissa that your parents love you and if they truly want your happiness, they will eventually come around, even if they are disappointed and sad at the thought of you moving to Mexico. For a long time, I thought my parents would be against me moving to Mexico too until my mom finally came out and told me one day that my place was at my husband's side and actually ENCOURAGED me to move. True sacrifice on her part, as it was very hard for her to have me move down there, and they even tell me know they thought we'd never move back once I went down there. While I realize your situation with your parents can be different, don't short change them. Open up to them, explain the situation (just the illegal part if you're not comfortable with explaining the other reason behind Javier's visa denial), and see what happens. You could be pleasantly surprised (F) Parents wnat their children's happiness even when it means sacrifice on their parts.

Excellent post.

Sorry to hear about this 'Liss. (I know I'm late to find out). It really sucks. For what it's worth, I do believe that to make it through such trying times bodes well for your future relationship, and in fact will make it MUCH stronger. Good luck.

I know that feeling. I was too frightened to tell my parents that Chris and I were getting married. I made him do it

*hugs*

It's a hard one.

I've been married every time I've been pregnant, and I was STILL afraid to tell my dad. That is an admission I was having sex

Hey... since being voted a VJ ho... WE at least know your having sex.... even if your dad doesn't :P

I believe my bulging pregnant belly tells everyone I'm having sex too :P heheh VJ ho, I had almost forgotten about that!

Thanks Mike! I know you're right, but it's still no fun... :(

Just to let you all know, after sitting down and thinking about things (and talking to Lisa, who for some reason has the power to make everything crystal clear) I think one way or another we'll be able to work this out. Forgive me for my little tirades-sometimes when you're already down, another bump can seem devastating when it really is just a bump. Thanks for the patience and knocking-of-sense back into me.

Melissa, you've got to go through the process (crying, desperation, fit throwing, whatever works) in order to get to the point where you can say what you just said. I'm proud of you! You guys are tough, you can make it through this!!!

Oh my gosh, it's ON!!! I told my mom (and I was nervous as heck)...but I told her! And she seemed ok but she was a little upset...but then it all turned out alright! As I expected, she said "who do you think's going to come to this wedding?" I was prepared with an answer: it doesn't really matter if there's a lot of people there or only a few people there, it's our wedding. She didn't argue! I think she's going to come around...thanks again to all you lovely people for helping me prepare for the difficult encounter...it's DONE!!!

Take a large, almost round, rotating sphere about 8000 miles in diameter, surround it with a murky, viscous atmosphere of gases mixed with water vapor, tilt its axis so it wobbles back and forth with respect to a source of heat and light, freeze it at both ends and roast it in the middle, cover most of its surface with liquid that constantly feeds vapor into the atmosphere as the sphere tosses billions of gallons up and down to the rhythmic pulling of a captive satellite and the sun. Then try to predict the conditions of that atmosphere over a small area within a 5 mile radius for a period of one to five days in advance!
