Oh no Jayke, not at all...they STILL never responded to Laurel's requests. I found out from the Senator's office...who contacted the liaison at Department of State. That's the only way we found out. Technically, we're not supposed to know yet. They never sent a reason or anything. I was also wondering how long they've had a decision.

sorry to hear of your misfortune.

I'm sorry to have to inform you all that our Advisory Opinion has been denied. We won't be getting a Visa for Javier. Thanks to all of you for your help in everything and support. We'll let you know what we're going to do as soon as we can figure out what that is.

Still waiting for our cards...Had to file I-90 as they sent them to the wrong address.

March 9th, 2010, Received GC that has been lost in the mail for 10 months. Still waiting for my son's that is lost as well.

Filed Waiver for my son's 10 year GC and it was approved. He finally received his GC after its been missing for 2 years.

Thanking God this is over for 10 years.

Good luck, Melissa! I'm so sorry to hear it. :(

If you don't like the idea of El Paso so much, there are lots and lots and lots of places in the US that are very near Mexico that you might enjoy living—even decent-sized cities like Tucson and San Diego. I'm an East-Coaster myself and just moved to New Mexico, and I absolutely love it. Of course you'd have to like having more than 300 days of sunshine per year, but ...

In any case, El Paso/Ciudad Juárez is certainly the most popular choice for couples in this situation (and there are lots), but it's not the only one.

Alright---tentative plans...and YES I'm looking for feedback so please do!

I have come to the conclsion that I'm not leaving my home. Sorry, US, you tried but I'm STAYING! And Javier will be here in 2008. Now, in the meantime, I am going to plan a lovely "princess" wedding down there in good old Ciudad Juarez. It will be on MY time and with everyone I love there to witness it. After that, we will begin with the I-130 process. I will come back here to Maryland. We will take our sweet time going through the process to end up with our interview...you guessed it...around August, 2008. That way, we're not sitting on our hands waiting this whole time-we will be doing the I-130. AND when Javier does come back, it will be with a green card. During the waiting period, Javier may or may not move to Ciudad Juarez and I may or may not move to El Paso. This is where we are....

It is not easy but not impossible at all.

February 2011: Officially divorced.
June 18, 2011: He married the girl he had the last affair with.

August 2014: I am engaged with my real soulmate. Not an American.
