I-134- Bank Letter Problem

Bah. I've just spoken to my account manager, and I've been informed that my bank is no longer allowed to release letters stating how much money is in a given account (this makes no sense to me, but it's a money market account instead of a savings or checking account; possibly that is complicating things. )

I have all my monthly bank statements; I can provide them with the first one since the account opened, and my most recent one stating how much is in it. Hopefully this will do?

Bah again. I tried to call the embassy, but I forgot it's a bank holiday today. Does anyone have an email address for the London Embassy? I can't seem to find it.

The I-134 doesn't ask how much you have in the account, it asks how much was deposited in the account over the preceding year.

I see 3 choices for you:

1. Try submitting what you suggest.

2. Create your own letter per the I-134 requirements, and submit it along with a letter from your bank stating that they don't give out the information that the USCIS has requested.

3. If you haven't already, talk to the Manager at your branch and show him the requirements from the USCIS. Perhaps then they might relent.

In your position, I would prioritise these options as 3, 2, 1.

London consulate email address is londonconsular@state.gov

Best of luck,

Thanks for the email; I've fired off a question. I doubt the bank will give on this, but I get a year-end statement from them; hopefully the one for 2005 will suffice.

So annoying...

If your income meets the poverty guidelines for family size, London doesn't care one whit about what you have in the bank.

My income level won't be a problem, so I'm glad to hear that, thanks!
