Doctor's visit, when your doctor doesn't seem to get it

He basically told you that you have scabies. Just to let you know, you don't have to have pets or know anyone with pets to get scabies. They are mites that burrow under your skin and cause a rash. The creams suffocate them and kill them and then you are cured. IF IF IF the doctor (who sounds like an idiot) happens to be right you will need to wash all your bedding and pillows, if you have a comforter put that in a huge garbage bag and seal it up tight so there is no air in it if you can't wash it... and leave it for a week or so. Vacuum your house really good and if you can steam clean your carpets do so. It is likely that if it is scabies it would be more than just you in the house that gets it.

However, the doc seems like an idiot. I'd get a second opinion. If it IS scabies you need to treat it... but if it's not you need to find a doc that will listen to you!

yes all that stuff is what she told me to do basically. I agree that there could be a smalllllll chance he is right, only because sometimes things are totally from left field. But I've been itchy for a couple months now and Sujeet never has been. No one I know has been itchy. Only little ol' me.

On the paper they gave it says "postscabetic dermatitis is not scabies..." but ya what he said sounds exactly like scabies.

I'm just not convinced though.

ok...they called.

The nurse said they will call in a prescription for me to treat the thing I thought I had!

Then if it does not help, I can go the "Scabies" route. I am much better with that, because atleast if I am wrong I can be proven wrong or proven right!!

that did make sense  I get it now! :D

as for cleaning the carpets, etc if I had mites....In the house we moved into, there are new carpets. Not to say there couldn't have been little bugs crawling around before the carpet was put in,and now they found a new home in it. But it just seems strange that I'd be the only one itchy in our house.

I'm just happy I can try the nizoral shampoo first!

I feel creeped out. Even though I don't think I have scabies, the idea of tiny bugs living under my skin is making me feel really grossed out. Also I'm jumpy about bugs today. I keep seeing things... bugs, bugs, they're everywhere...Well except they aren't bugs, they're just peices of fuzz or other things that are masquarading around my house as bugs. helppp meeee :o:)

I'll be so happy to go later to Target to pick up my nizoral shampoo. (Our local Target's pharmacy seems to have really good prices compared to other pharmacies around, even cheaper than walmart)

We do have it covered in the ins plan, but there is a co-pay. I don't remember how much, it matters whether it's generic or brand. But, the way I noticed is I had a prescription for generic ibuprofen(stronger than over the counter stuff) and it was like $ .50 cheaper at Target than Walmart. I think for that medicine, I would have had a $10 co pay, but it was $9-something at target...saved around $ .50. :innocent: big bucks huh?

 how funny. Mine works as it's a flat 15, 20 or 30 dollar copay. depending on the drug. So target or walmart or walgreens or cvs all charge me the same.

Holy sh!t. I had (and still get) tinea versicolor back when I was in the navy and I worked in a steamy engineroom. It's common in high humidity environments. I still have some shampoo that I rub on my skin and let set to get rid of it.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. Glad you got it all storted out Christina!!! What a pain hey??? Soooo glad they FINALLYYYYY (DOH!!!) listed to the actual PATIENT ie YOU and let you get the prescription you likely at least DO need! Sigh..sometimes these docs!! I know..I have anxiety..and one of the symptoms of that is you always feel you have something wrong with you...the thing is..I HAVE been guilty of that..but funny enough..I always know when I'm doing it!! Like..I'll think something could be really wrong with me..and yet..I know there's not..but when I go to the doctor sometimes now, he blows me off because of the anxiety. Just kind of nods his head and carries on. It's so frustrating because I KNOW if I do have really bad pain in a certain area of my body or something...finally last time I was there he had me go do some blood tests and I'm going back to the pain clinic for my back...but sometimes I just wish they would listen to US...it's not ALWAYS in your head, ya know??? Glad it got worked out..and it wasn't a boring story..I always like to hear from you! :) M.
