We're pretty set on lots of the details for the process of obtaining the K-1 the only big doubt we have left is for the financial support aspect. I have been living in Mexico for almost the past two years (shortly after graduating from school) so I haven't had a US salary for a while and also haven't filed US taxes (with any sort of substantial numbers) pretty much ever (b/c I was a student for so long and the moved down here). Now ideally, my partner and I don't want to get support from a friend or family member (for obvious reasons of not wanting to involved other people) but we're concerned b/c I will probably move back to the states at the end of the year and obviously he will stay here. We don't want to be apart for that long but understand it is necessary. Will I have to wait until after April of 09 to even file for the K1? And then, will they want a whole year of tax returns (i.e. if I move back in...Oct, get a job and start working in Nov, the tax returns would only show Nov-April) because my salary here won't reach the required amount. Truth is I'm pretty inexperienced in the whole tax area and I don't want to that to inhibit our chances.

Is the best option to just try to find a sponsor? Or can I submit the application without the tax returns? Should I wait until April? Or will that not even be enough?

We wanted to do DCF but because of where I am living in the country we can't. And eventually, sooner rather than later b/c I want to go back to school, we want to move to the states. So as I undersatnd, it's K-1 so that means me moving back home, us waiting in separate countries for the K-1 (possibly over a year) and then him moving up north. The only doubt is...the$!!

ANy help is really appreciated

As petitioner you will need to provide an I-134 even if income is poor, get a co-sponsor that does have income able to support the prospective immigrant.

I-134 is for the period from entry to getting green-card, so co-sponsor does not need to be Joint sponsor later when adjusting status.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.
