I posted the following question on the NVC forum and after 2 days got zero replies...so I'm taking a shot with this forum.

I am not clear on what happens after you hear "case complete" on the NVC automated system. How long to get the paperwork from NVC to the consulate (average time).

When the consulate gets the paperwork, what happens. I've heard that for CR-1 applications they do a final name check. Is this true? If so, how long does this take? I also heard CR-1 interviews get lower priority than K-1 interviews. Is this true?

After the name check (assuming it must be done) how long until the consulate contacts beneficiary about interview (average time)?

Thanks!

The case goes to the Embassy. The NVC will schedule the interview date. The Embassy people will conduct the interview and afterwards collect fingerprints. Security checks are done with Department of State after interview . It can be weeks or months to complete. Then when security checks are done, the DOS returns the case to the Embassy and the Embassy contacts the beneficiary to pick up the visa.
