Hello everyone:

I just send out my application today - finally  but I have a couple of questions.

1. Where do I check the status of my case ? Where do I even get a case # from ?

2. What material did you guys use to study for the test... I want to start studying now...

3. What do they do at the biometics appoinment ? Just fingerprinting ?

Thanks

Anja

NOA = Notice of Action. NOA1 will be your receipt letter which will list your receipt number and your priority date.

My wife went to a free citizenship class at our local adult ed. center, and she was given a study guide when she went for her biometric appointment.

The letters that you receive from USCIS normally say, Notice Of Actions (NOA).

People in the forum give them numbers.

I hope you receive news from USCIS soon.

The timeline you will follow will be out of your local office, which I am guessing is Boston. Good luck studying! My husband made some flashcard. They have some to print out already, but I find flashcards are more valuable when you write them yourself.

Tammy,

Just curious what material is your husband studying for the test ?

And where did he get the flashcards from ?

Thanks

He's studying the sample test that is on the USCIS website. Questions can only come from that, so why study anything else. He made the flashcards.

Here are the possible 96 questions (they ask you up to 10, you must get 6 correct): http://www.uscis.gov/files/nativedocuments...d_questions.pdf

and here is their own flashcards you could print out or make your own: http://www.uscis.gov/files/nativedocuments/M-623.pdf

And the main page where I got this information from: http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/men...00048f3d6a1RCRD

Don't overlook the Civics Glossary at the end of the booklet they give you at the biometric appointment. I know of someone who was asked something from that, and she did not know the answer and has to return for another test in a month. She answered everything else correctly.

But you can miss 4 out of 10. Did they ask her 4 out of the glossary that she didn't know? Thanks though, I've never seen this glossary mentioned before.

I found out a little more and it is a bit strange. There are two Thai women who were both asked the same question, "Do you know the meaning of the Oath?" One of the women got it right and had no problem. The other said she did not know exactly what it meant and has to go back again in one or two months and tell the examiner what the Oath means. The strangest part is she says she only missed that one question. I don't understand why she would be flunked if she only missed one. Maybe the interviewer was having a bad day. I am getting this kind of third hand. It is on a Thai web site and I don't read Thai. My wife is telling me what the people are saying about NOAs, Interviews and timelines etc. I don't think it is worth worrying too much about. Check out the Glossary, learn what the Oath is all about. That should be enough.

Just my guess, probably because one of the main things in becoming citizen is that you have to take an Oath.
