Reduction in goverment spending?

Do you think it is an unattainable goal? If so then we are doomed to bankruptcy or crushing taxes. It isn't something that is desirable, it is necessary for our survival.

it will make up for some of what we had to pay in taxes but not all of it. :ranting:

This year I paid over $6000 in federal taxes net. If they allow the tax cuts to expire that will go up about $2000. Maybe more now that Luz is working. Don't buy the myth that the tax cuts were for the rich. I hope that if McCain is elected he will push for them to become permanent. I would rather see a reduction in government spending rather than in increase in taxes. The entitlements is what is really killing our deficit.

 the entitlements are a drop in the bucket compared to the economic killer..the Iraq clusterf##k..billions..down the tubes..spent in a f##king land.. that will result in civil war when we leave..

and where is the oil, that is suppose to booster their economic..stolen and sold to iran./// a f##king joke...entitlement programs...gag me with a spoon

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

Consider the costs...

$275 million per day

$4,100 per household

Almost 4,000 U.S. soldiers killed and more than 60,000 wounded

700,000 Iraqis killed and 4 million refug

I do see certain, shall we say difficulties in that idea. The Iraq war does count as goverment spending in this context, correct?

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have to say yes.

American voters should start thinking a lot harder about the real economic costs of this country's superpower status.

Sorry Dean but that isn't the case. If you add up the government entitlements and compare it to defense spending the entitlements beat it by a long shot. The entitlements add up to 20.7% of GDP while defense is only 4.8%. See the stats here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Government_spending
