Well, I called the Police Stn today to ask about the form.

Spoke with the lady on the phone, and she said "is there anything on the back of the form, stamped and dated?". I turned the form over, and there was a section about what was found. But of course nothing have been stamped, dated or signed.

So I asked if this was a mistake. She said yes, that if this was returned without anything on the back, then this was a mistake. I need to go back to the Police Stn and show it to her. She checked to see whether my name had been searched or whether anything was in the mail, and she said no.

So I guess, getting back the original form was not the right thing. Someone made a boo-boo.

Annoying - I should have just went to the real police first off (RCMP). EPS is good at sitting in cars and handing out photo radar tickets. Sad that I just gave them more $$$.

Just in case there are other Edmonton area people reading this - they should go to the Edmonton RCMP - the one by Kingsway Mall. That is where I went and they didn't charge me anything - he just asked for a copy of the letter requesting the police certificate. That was in October so maybe things have changed, but worth a try if you are in the area.

Oh, and besides not being charged, I was also surprised at how plain the police certificate looked - just a simple piece of paper.

03/01/07 Mailed I-130 priority post to Nebraska.

06/19/07 Approved!!!

07/10/07 NVC assigned case #.

10/25/07 NVC Case Complete!!!!

01/22/08 Original Monreal interview- requested to reschedule, told 3-4 month wait.

04/17/08 Interview in Montreal

04/21/08 Received VISA package

06/24/08 Crossed border

07/26/08 Received conditional greencard

07/28/08 Received SSN in mail (went down and applied in person 07/14/08)

08/11/08 Infopass appointment to request 10yr greencard instead of conditional. Mailed out 1-90 with support.

09/25/08 Received case # for I-90

02/17/09 Received 10yr greencard!!! WOOHOO

Good advice. I'll probably try this approach.

I just called the Ottawa Police Station and I explained to the gentlemen that I needed a Police Certificate/ a CIPC check and the man told me that what I got (the Criminal Records Check.. the green paper) is what they give out for immigration purposes.

I’m wondering, did anyone else get the Criminal Records Check (green paper)??

Is there anyone on here from the Ottawa area??? If so, what did you get??

Sorry for all of the questions guys but I want to make sure that I have the right papers before the interview.

I managed to get to the Police Stn today with my returned copy.

The manager apologized for the inconvenience and had a form completed right away.

The form they sent back to me shouldn't have been sent back and a proper Form A should have been typed up.

The EPS Police Information Check Certificate: Immigration Form A, goes like this:

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:

RE: NAME _________

Date of Birth _____________

A search based on the above NAME AND BIRTHDATE has NOT disclosed a record of criminal convictions in Canada's National Repository for criminal records. A search in the Edmonton Police Service's local indices and the Alberta Court indices has NOT disclosed other relevant information. This search is by NAME AND BIRTHDATE from Identification provided. A COMPELTE record check can only be made through the submission of fingerprints.

Note: Vulnerable Sector Search Not Included . . . .

Issed at the City of Edmonton

in the Province of Alberta

on March 20, 2008

Signed _________

 So that part is done

Oh, and as indicated in other posts about CPIC, the back of the Form A says:

1. The Edmonton Police Service processes all requests for police information checks through the following indices:

a. Edmonton Police Service local records

b. Justice Online information Network (JOIN) Alberta court records, and

c. Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) national police records
