I went to EPS downtown on Feb29, to start ordering my police certificate. Paid the $30, saw the clerk, she checked everything over, gave me a receipt and sent me on my way. That was a Friday.

On Tuesday, I get mail from EPS. I am pissed cause I am sure its photo radar. I consider not opening it, but do anyways. Its the top copy of the request for a police certificate that I filled out on Friday. All the boxes etc are checked off, her red pen marks are on there. Nothing else with it. No letter saying incomplete - nothing.

Is that their way of telling me that it was incorrectly filled out and I need to try again? Or is that just the top copy and they don't need it any longer and are working on the request?

Thing is that their office hrs suck to call, and I'm been booked with meetings for the next two weeks. I am hoping tomorrow to get a chance to call during office hours.

Anyone with this experience?

Email is probably a good idea. That way I don't have to make time for a phone call.

Will update this once I hear, cause it really confused me. . . . not that that is hard. Maybe if its no good, then I'll just go to ShPk too. Its close enough and obviously faster.

Im from edmonton, i just moved here to the states in feb.. but when i filled out the form for the police check, i checked "Certificate for immigration purposes" in the reason why i was having it done. They gave me the front sheet (not the sheet with my info on it) as i was leaving and i got the actual certificate in the mail a week later. It was stamped and imprinted etc etc to show its validity so maybe what you got back was the front sheet?

If the police check was completed in your name it will have an imprinted seal with the date on it. Otherwise wait patiently in the mail for the certificate

I was a resident of Sherwood Park so it was cheaper for me, I think I paid $35.00. But even $60- for the convenience of walking out with it- definitely worth it.

But as far as what EPS sent you- I really have no clue. I would have assumed that if everything was good your Police Certificate would have been with it.

Hhhmmm.. I'm a little confused and hope that I didn't get the wrong Police check.

I went to the Police Station today and told the lady that I needed a Police Check for my interview for the Fiance Visa. She didn't seem to know whihc one I would need but said it was probably the green Criminal Records Check form. I filled out the one sheet and she look at my record while I was waiting. She checked the box saying that I have no criminal convictions and on top of her signature she stamped it and gave it back to me.

From reading what everone else has done, their form took a few days to get back to them. Did I get the wrong one?!?!? :crying:

As long as it says that it is a CPIC check (Canada wide), you're good to go.

I only know if you are going through Vancouver, you will need the actual Police Certificate, not the criminal background check.
