Does US petitioner have to go for an interview?

Hello,

my fiance got a letter in the mail stating this: "within a week (the case) will be forwarded to the appropriate center where your interview will take place"

Does this mean that he has to go for an interview as well? or does this just mean that they are sending the information to the consulate near me (Vancouver BC), where MY interview will be?

No, only the beneficiary is required to do the interview.

Required? No, the petitioner is not. But many say that it helps. It's another piece of evidence, along with the pics, emails, and boarding passes.

When I spoke to a lady from our embassy (Costa Rica), she was happy when I said that I was coming with my fiancee to the interview. She said they like it when the petitioner comes, because they like to talk to them also.

No, you dont have to but you can go if you wish to.

I wouldn't say MOST, there are SOME embassies/consulates that do not allow the petitioner to attend.

Check with the Vancouver consulate, they will let you know
