The waiting is really the most painful part. I hope someone from South Africa comes on to give you their experience. But try to remain faithful. It took me about two and a half months to get my file from NVC to the embassy and then be issued an interview date. Unfortuntately, we wait. If you call DOS, they can tell you if your file is at the embassy and whether or not a date has been issued. Give that a try so you feel like you're doing something.

I'm in the same boat as you Terry!!!!

Also been calling the Consulate and same answer.

The most concerning to me is that in May, my I-797 expires (they only give you 4 months to have the interview after approved at NVC)

Not sure what approach to take here. Surely we can't be penalised for their administrative overload.

I'll keep intouch.

If you don't have an interview by the time the NOA2 expires the consulate will automatically extend the validity of it. I sent an e-mail just because I wanted to :D
