What magic tricks do we have to learn to be able to speak to somebody in customer service at 1-800-375-5283? There is no option to speak to a person, guys? The two of us have been trying to get to talk to somebody for 4 days now. This looks like a lost cause for us; unless someone is willing to give us a helping hand. Therefore, to the lucky ones who talked to a customer service representative, what numbers do you press to get to speak to a customer service rep? Thanks much!

P.S. We received the NOA1, however the case number is not recognized when entered on line or over the phone.

Thank you, but this is not the answer I was expecting. I want to find if there is a possibility to speak to somebody on the phone when the case number is not accepted. If yes, how??? Thank you!

I think you don't understand. Spiderette gave you the same answer you would get IF you could EVER reach a human at the USCIS and the same answer I am going to give you (like it or not) . The number on your NOA1 is NOT the number you track your case with. The number you get when you receive your boimetrics appointment is the number.

Many of us (me included  ) have faced this same issue and when the biometics letter arrived that number worked just fine.

In other words, don't call Cust serv if you did not get a case number, no matter what your issue is. Is that because it is impossible to reach one without a case number or because I would not get an answer that would satisfy me?

Let me repeat myself. Is it possible to get to a real person on USCIS customer service telephone line without a case number? If yes, how??? Please, just forget why I want to call for now. Thanks!

Go through the phone prompts as though you don't have a case number, because you DON'T have a case number... if you read the NOA (yes, I'm repeating myself.... ;) ) you will notice that is a receipt number...... not a case number. Your case number will be on the ASC appointment notice.

I think your question is perfectly clear and here is the answer: To reach a USCIS customer service representative after you dial 1-800-375-5283 press 1240. You don’t have to listen to every prompt. As soon as you call press all these numbers and 'someone will be with your shortly' :)

That's the answer! Short and sweet! Thanks! :star: In the meantime, I was able to find another shortcut per Vivi and JimJim's post at this topic http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=107915. The prompts are: 1-2-6. .

OP, the number on the NOA1 is an internal number. It will not appear on the case status online system. It has no bearing on whether your case is accepted or not, so if that's your concern, don't worry.

The second notice, the biometrics notice, will have a trackable case number, but for some people, it doesn't activate until after you've done the biometrics.

If you've just got your NOA1 in the last week or two, you'll get your biometrics appointment notice in the next week or two. Don't be too worried about it.
