I just got the letter what said my case is in Algiers now, but I'm aware they will be sending a K3 requirements list of what he needs to bring for the interview. I really want to avoid getting that 221G form or whatever it's called, Has anyone had a 2nd interview because they forget a paper, or needed translation on something? I'd really be appreciative to any insight as I don't want to be in AP for a small mistake or soemthing. God bless

hi sweetie,

first of all repost this! theres like so many people going thru algiers with valuable info, this topic got lost among the many other topics of the day

I will tell you one thing, there is no such thing as "Avoiding AP"

you dont avoid it by being of same nationality as your husband, you dont avoid it by meeting online, you dont avoid it by visiting him often, you dont avoid it by having tons of evidence and albums upon albums of photos, and you avoid it by having all the papers nice and neat and all completed perfectly. If that were the case I would not have AP and most of the women here with the exception of a few would have have to endure AP for their husbands.

The key thing here is the NAME of your husband. the NATIONALITY of your husband. The CONSULATE OFFICER you get. Finally the only real thing that matters is what GOD has laid out for you.

Basically EVERY SINGLE HUMAN BEING (even the ones from europe, yes) get AP. BUT the difference there is that the name checks for them are done within 1-2 days before the interview and so its already cleared and they get the visa upon interview.

For MENA, if the name is uncommon and with the help of God you get a nice CO, you can expect little to no delay. The standard answer is 2-3 weeks but you may get it withing 2 days if all the above I mentioned as the "key" to this are satisfied.

For some the name checks that start once keep getting expired and thats where you see the problem. AP simply means security checks, everyone goes through them, women as well, notice for the IV Fee you pay a part for security clearance.

Just get all your evidence and papers in tact and tell him to relax during the interview so he can be approved. AP is not in your hands at the least bit. You may get lucky and have his name be cleared quickly and before the interview or within 2-3 days.

I wish you the best sister

Tammy (F)

AP: Over 1 year.

Visa: Nov 2

US Entry: Nov 13, Alhamdulillah.

It looks like your case is moving along quickly. Congrats!

Have you looked at the Consulate's website? They post the list of needed docs. I don't know that they have the list for the K3 specifically, but if I were you I would look at the list for both a K1 and the CR1.

Here is the info on a fiancee visa: http://algiers.usembassy.gov/visas_k.html

And, for the CR1: http://algiers.usembassy.gov/family_based.html

E-mail or call them with any specific questions. They will answer pretty quickly and hearing it directly from them may calm your nerves.

Good luck!

We finally have an (almost) crowd going through Algiers. Let's hope next week is a good one for everyone.

I'm glad it helped. I really think both of your cases will breeze through and you will be pleasantly surprised at how helpful this particular Consulate is. I know it is hard to imagine a quick end in sight after a long process, but I have a good feeling about it. Here is hoping I am right.
