Today, I got an email from the Cairo Embassy saying that the visa is pending the officer's final review.

That was the same answer as 2 weeks ago. Ahmed's interview was Feb 11th.

I called DOS today and she said Ahmed is in "security clearance" and was put in that the day of the interview.

She said I could call every 2 weeks and that it could easily takes months, but there is no telling. The other officer had said 3 to 4 months.

So, I guess if your officer puts your fiance into security clearance on the day of the interview, because they

are not sure about his true intentions, then you can be in security clearance for a while.

I guess it depends on what the officer decides.....if she or he determines that he or she needs further security checks.

I guess while you are in security clearance then the embassy will tell you that the visa is pending the officer's final review.

Who knows..............

So, I guess I will wait 2 weeks now before calling again.

You know this is so nuts what they are doing. I just have to vent. Why not tell people they are going into more security checks and clearances instead of flat out lying to them and getting their hopes up??? I feel like this is abusive and they just tell people 2-3 weeks or whatever time frame to not have any arguments there..just to pacify some. I would much rather know leaving the interview that we have some more of a wait and have it explained than to have to go what they are putting you through.

We had our interview yesterday and after reading this email I am calling them to play dumb and ask the results of it. I really hope this is not months for you Lynn. This is so upsetting and I know it feels like a setback after getting your hopes up. The left foot doesn't know what the right foot is always doing with this embassy.

Lynn everyone calls it something different. But the security checks and name checks and mandatory AP are all the same. It is the name checks and security checks everyone is put in after the Interview. Some are just luckier than us and move through it very quickly.

One of our problems is we have Ahmed's.........Ahmed and Mohamed are the most popular names in Egypt. Therefore it takes longer to go through the security and name checks.

Do not worry about DOS you can call when you want. They tell me I can call every week. Sometimes I call twice a week and today I even called twice in one day. Somtimes it depends on who you get how much info they will give you. So if I think the first one did not tell me enough I call back in a few hours.

Hang in there..........you are in my prayers.

even Mohamed and ahmed is the most popular name in arab and muslim contries but i wonder why they talk our finger print then it should be easy for them unless they dont have wanted persons fingerprints

anyway i am so happy by my name and very thankful for my dad to call my Mohamed athough all that .lol

have nice day

Funny you should ask that....I asked my Senator that same question......The response was that the fingerprints have to be compared manually cuz they do not have all in the computer. Therefore it depends on who is doing the comparing.......how much priority is placed on the comparing versus the rest of their workload....and how fast they work. This has to be done separately for each False Hit or Red Flag that comes up. I was also told this can take anywhere from 2 to 4 months.

So while yes alot receive their visa really quickly....those with common arabic names should not get their hopes up of 2 to 3 week visa issuance. Maybe you will get lucky.....but plan for the long haul...then if it comes quicker you will be happy instead of disappointed it took longer.

Lynn and I both are with Ahmed's........we both Inerviewed the same date..........both were told approved........visa in 2 to 3 weeks.....both

still waiitng. It is the beginning of our 6th week.

God willing it will go quicker for you and everyone else.

i have a mohammad too....and i know the frustrations....i had my worst breakdown 2 weeks ago...we got the email for him to send in the passport and that the visa was ready to be issued....they had the passport 2 weeks and sent it back empty...when i called they said it was in security checks....AGAIN...that was the absolute worse...i was much better just waiting....than to have it and them take it away....ugh

Good luck guys...maybe we will all get out of this soon (and sane)
