thanks for your reply perfect, i'm just home from seeing my family dr yet again and my blood pressure was fine.

Turns out my family Dr is a doctor of osteopathy and she did a few manipulations of my skull, she said i have more going on that just basic migraines. I mentioned to her about my chiropractor appt and she said it would be a bad idea to have my neck adjusted, but i'm thinking it can't do any more damage than i've already have.

About 20 years ago my ex-husband broke my nose and my Dr noticed that i had more than just a deviated septum, turns up the top of my nose had been damaged as well, seems the very top of my nose had been pushed in so far that it is causing pressure on my cranium, so she put her finger in my mouth and pushed on my hard palate and manipulated the top of my nose out a bit. She also said that i have alot of cranial pressure and cervical problems going on. Pity she didnt manipulate my neck

She also says i'm very stressed as well. Asked if things were ok at home, if i like where i'm living, do i like my job amongst other things.

She mentioned referring me to a neurologist.

She gave me another shot in my butt.......... toradol again!! and vistaril. Then handed me a prescription for Relpax (another triptan) and told me to increase my nortryptaline to 50mg, i feel like a damn pharmacy, i swear if you shook me i'd rattle

My migraine has eased off a bit, so here's hoping the manipulations she did on my skull are working.

I just got back from my chiropractor appointment. Had my neck adjusted and he adjusted 2 discs in my upper back as well. From what he felt in my neck and the sound coming from it ...the grinding and cracking, he says that i have arthritis in my neck, from an old injury i had 13 years ago, i fell off a ladder and twisted my neck pretty bad and had to wear a cervical collar.

Having sinus and migraine problems is bad enuff, now i have to deal with an arthritic neck now too. :(

Can it get any worse!!

I agree that it's important to know your triggers, and to learn how to avoid them. For me my triggers are certain types of foods (esp. chocolate), cold drafts (such as sleeping with AC on too high), and keeping my hair wet after I shower (I always dry it). I think it also has to do with more mental things such as stress. So avoiding physical triggers, as well as trying to manage my stress, are the most important things for me.

The meds that work for me are Solpadeine (which my husband brings to me from his country, since it's OTC there), which includes Tylenol, caffeine, and codeine.

Also learning appropriate posture and seeing a chiropractor (for just a few sessions) was helpful for me.

Hope this helps,

KEKhan

Maria~n~Dane, I know exactly what you are going through. But let me tell you, dont waste your time & money on normal doctors. Go to a neurologist! I kept going to my dr and they'd play the pharmacy game on me, and told me the "find your triggers" story also. So I layed off cheese (and I love pizza so this was real hard), and no chocolate, wine, aged products etc, and kept a diary of what I ate to see if it would trigger a migraine. For me a lot of cheese may do it, but its 50/50 chance. Sushi is also a big trigger :(

I had migraines about 5 days a week, and life was horrible. I couldn't get out of bed in the morning cause the migraines never seemed to end, the minute one stopped, a couple hrs later a new one was beginning. I layed in a dark bed for a while. Enough pity I thought. I went to a neurologist, she sent me for an MRI to make sure nothing was seriously wrong. Then she started me on Topamax. I know you said you've tried this. But how long did you give it a try? At first I was going to give up on it, cause the migraines were still happening, but she made me adjust the medicine up very slowly, I could increase it by 1 pill every 2 weeks. I think it took 2 months before I saw improvement. Thank goodness! I was then having about 1-2 migraines a week... livable. 6-9 months of Topamax and I'd say I get about 2-3 migraines a month. I think it gets better the longer you use it. I only say this, cause I wonder how long you tried it. The only problem with topamax is that its caused weight gain on me :( and sometimes makes me feel a little "slow" meaning I dont have a lot of energy, or sometimes I forget words in my normal everyday vocabulary. This bothers me.

I dont use Maxalt or Imitrex, because they dont seem to work on me. I actually take excedrin migraine and 2 hrs later I'm 80-100% better. Its not the same thing as normal excedrin as someone stated, cause I've tried both, I've tried aleve, tylenol, I mean a whole bunch of stuff to make this go away.

I think accupuncture is the next thing I'm going to try to make them go away all together.

In all my internet searchings on how to get rid of these migraines, I've stumbled upon the chiropractor claims. I think this will help those that have problems with their necks causing pressure. But those folks said after the neck "adjusting" a couple times the migraines were totally gone.

I also found that some meds can be a problem for me with my migraines (specifically ones that raise blood pressure).

If you are on birth control pills, you will probably already be monitoring your blood pressure closely with your dr, but keep in mind that this could be a factor. Another med which can raise blood pressure is Sudafed (which they don't sell over the counter anymore bec. of this).

I got off my birth control a few yrs ago and my blood pressure has been fine ever since (as well as less migraines, and the ones I do get are less intense). There are so many factors to consider - you have to find the ones that personally affect you. And seeing a specialist might also be a good idea if nothing else helps.

I think this is how mine actually started! I got off BC cause they were the start of the migraines. Too bad when I got off they didn't automatically stop :(

But I agree, blood pressure does have something to do with it... for some.
