I 864 related question

Hi,

As Affidavit of support, I'm going to send following documents to my wife in India:

1) I 864

2) Tax Return for last three years (I think I don't have the W2s for 2005, will it be okay ??)

3) Proof of Job and income letter from my employer

My question is, do I need to also send my bank statement? If so then how much balance in the bank account is sufficient?

Thank You,

VISH

If you have the W2s for 2006 & 2007, it should be fine. Especially at the AOS stage, they love to send RFEs requesting the W2s! Order free tax transcripts from the IRS website now (might take several weeks to come); if you send them, missing W2s are not a problem (that's what I did).

Bank statement is not really needed but it is always good to send as much paperwork as you can. They just want to know that you are financially stable. A letter from the bank stating when you opened the account and the balance is good too. I sent both a letter from the bank and a few bank statements, I think I only had less than $1,500 in the account then, but I was happily approved.
