Who among you here lose weight or even gain weight for that matter once you get here in the states :P

when i was in phil, there's a lot of walking. inside the school campus, or after school, just walking to the nearby food chain, stores... plus a fast metabolism lol... i was 87 LBS or close to 90 when i got here last yr (jan. 07) but as of today my weight is 100 LBS. sometimes 102 if i really eat too much lol... ive got nothing to do except eat, sleep, and now im working at home, just sitting all day in my mini office lol... eating a bunch of junk foods and mind you both my husband and i are not vegie eaters lol. so no healthy food for us... any of you guys gained weight at all? most of my friends have, so its pretty weird... not that im sad about it coz gosh 87 LBS is pretty thin for american plus my mom wants me fat lol. im at 97-100 now so ive gained 10LBS at least and they still call me thin. size zero or worst double zero for petites...

cant live without ice cream in the freezer, gatorade, Hershey's kisses/bar, pringles and hawaiian sweet bread for my snacks lol...

so im the BIGGEST GAINER unless somebody can top me on that lol...

Im not really that thin, I mainteined from 125 to 130 when I was still in the Philippines since 3 to 4 days a week I had to climb from the ground floor to the third floor of the Hall of Justice. The first 2 weeks when I arrived here I gained a lot because I was travelling with my husband and we ate out a lot. Now that winter is over, we had the pool opened for swimming since the water temperature is up to 72 and now I can really do some laps for my exercise. We also walk after dinner around the neighborhood. I love to eat, and so does my husband but got to lose some weight especially that now im 135lbs :( but hey, I still look small when I go to walmart, k-mart, windixie etc, lol.

My wife was at 98 LBS when she came to Hawaii and now she weighs 125. Junk foods will do it. 100 LBS maybe still thin depends on your height. My wife is under 5'0 @ 125 which considers above avg.

Well, i am not yet in the States but had to lose weight because i know when i get there i'll get fatter because of the food. After our wedding (May 2007) i ballooned to 220 lbs (by the way, im a "he") but after hitting the gym everyday and eating right im now a "leaner" me at 180 lbs and my wife loves my new body...hahaha! About 20 lbs overweight - my ideal weight should be around 160 lbs for someone at 5'8".

2-0. In favor of the boys.

I'm 5'5" and 140 lbs. (I'm a guy btw) I think that is my ideal weight. I got lucky that when I moved to the states (1985) we moved to New York City, where its pretty much like Manila. There's alot of walking around, lots of exercises. I used to rollerblade around Central Park everyday so I really didnt gained that much weight.

I think the biggest factor here in the states, especially if you dont live in cities with "walking culture" is that you have to exercise. I've lived in Dallas, TX and Im currently in Palm Springs, California right now, One thing I've noticed with both cities is nobody walks. They'll drive to go to 7/11 store just half a mile away. Unlike NYC or Chicago.

Hi, it doesnt matter whether you lose or gain weight, what matter is as long you keep it proportion to your height so thats no problem at all.. ANd for a piece of advise, maybe you should watch your diet with the "foods" you are taking in.. As for me, im a health and food conscious.. hehe.. even how much i wanted junk foods also, but i still discipline myself.. :luv: :luv: :luv:

Thanks.. (L)

I'm not yet in the US and actually, we haven't receive any NOA2 yet  but anyway, I think I'll be able to lose a lot of weight when I get there, if not maintain my current 128 pounds frame (which is really underweight for my height, 5"8) since my husband and I are trying to maintain an active and healthy lifestyle by frequenting the gym and staying away from junk and greasy foods. But not sure though if I can resist all the available variants of food in there especially chocolates :pop:

When I first came here, I was only 97 lbs... now I'm 103-105 (depending on the kind of weighing scale). My first month here was spent eating like an army because I was excited to try almost everything. I would eat 2 fried eggs, 2 slices of toast 3 sausage patties (or whatever meat we have), a plate of hashbrowns, coffee and juice in the morning, hamburger and soda for lunch and a heavy meal for dinner. We also tried buffet dining for so many times. In one month time, I gained the whooping 10 lbs. and it was really showing. That's when I slowed down and watched my diet. I don't exercise (although we have all kinds of equipments here at home) because I'm lazy and would rather stay on the computer. Since my husband and I are both meat lovers, we are now conscious with our health and have added fruits, vegetables and fish in our diet (and lots and lots of yogurt) for a change. So far, I have maintained my current weight. And we have agreed that he will be honest with me if I'm really "blossoming" (a nicer word for "getting fat"), no lies on that one. People think I'm still small for my frame but I don't call myself petite anymore.

I am currently working on some methods on how to maintain my weight. In the morning, I would weigh myself and then count all my calories intake all day. Just counting in my head and kind of calculating it. And then the next day, weigh myself again and see if it changes. It's working so far... BTW, I found out that hula-hoop can help your tummy flatter if you will use it for at least 20 mins. everyday. You just gotta do it religiously, which, I am failing to do so.

Oh gosh, I'm on the same boat to those who gained weight. And I still don't understand why. My food intake when I was still in the Philippines was even "bigger" compare to what I'm eating here now in the US. My usual weight ranges from 108-111 lbs, I'm considered average and sometimes called thin. But now that I'm here in the US, my weight ranges from 111.5 to 114.5 lbs. As in waaaaahhhhh, I'm starting to panic now coz I've been here for just 2.5 weeks and I'm afraid to imagine how much I'll gain months from now or years from now. :-( First thing in the morning before my bath I would weigh myself and then around afternoon and before going to sleep. Yeah, I'm getting paranoid...:-) I'm just trying to check the ranges of my weight in correlation to the food I ate. I'm eating healthy foods and tried to avoid high calorie foods (as much as possible), but sitting around the house and without having the chance to get enough exercise is one factor why I'm gaining weight, I guess.

In the Philippines, once you go out of the house, you are burning calories twice or three times as much compare to doing that here in the US. I tried walking up and down the stairs in our house doing chores but still that exercise is not enough. There were days I tried working really hard around the house and try eating less but didn't notice any considerable loss in my weight. Now, I'm looking forward to having the chance to go jogging so I can get back in shape. :-)

how tall are you? im no expert but if you're like at least 5' you should gain more weight... i know its hard coz of some reason knowing you keep eating and nothing happened. there's a lot of factors too like stress or the food that we eat... or could be just genes. my mom was pregnant with me and she only weighs 87lbs. and she's pregnant lol... but hopefully you'll regain your desired weight... i wana be at least a hundred although they say 5'2" should be at least around 110 lol...

anyways thanks y'all for dropping and sharing your weight w/ out shame :D proud of you all! and we can help out how to lose or gain weight knowing my husband really is trying to lose weight but we're both lazy to do something about it and plus no discipline in our food intake... cant got to a health club coz of his work (just sitting all day dealing papers)... when we're both stressed and depressed we sit in front of the tv and eating ice cream...

how effective is south beach diet? we're talking about that hehehe
