Hi, I have a very confusing situation here and I don't know what to do really. My beloved Susan and I filed for K1 in Jan 2007, got my interview on Sep 19th, was told then that I was approved and that I would get the visa in two weeks - yeah right!!- so, by december I had a call from the embassy, they wanted me to go sign the DS230 which the interviewing officer allegedly forgot to make me sign at the time of the interview. Went there in Jan, signed the darn thing and asked the officer what's next, and he said you'll get your visa in 2-3 weeks, I asked if I cleared name and security checks, he said Yes.

A month passed and no visa, so we email the embassy and they say it's pending the officer's final review, so we suspect AP, and we email them asking if it's Administrative processing and they say no, and we call the DOS, ask if our case is in AP and the answer is negative, so we waited again, and all this time they've been keeping my passport, so I ask for it back due to work related issues, and I get another call from the embassy by someone verifying that I want the passport, and I ask if my case is in cairo or went back to the US, and I was told that the case is being reviewed by the consular in Cairo and I would find out the outcome the next week, two days later a DHL guy shows up with my passport, no stamps, no visa, no nothing with it. Finally we email the embassy again, and they say the case needed further administrative review.

Now I understand when a case is in AP, you're told it's in AP. we've been in this for close to six months and we don't know what is going on exactly. I don't know what to do, we're fine with waiting but we're sick and tired of being lied to by the embassy, all we need is some honest answers.

Now to my question, how can we know what is going on for sure, whether the case is in AP or not, whether it's here in cairo or in the states?? I've seen people in AP for over a year but they were told they're in AP, as for us, we don't know anything.

I think its hard to get final answers , but i think you got your passport with no visa issued because you asked for it . The officer`s final review is not AP. i have been in AP for almost 4 and half months then i got a phone call to send my passport in , then i waited another 2 months until my visa issued , each time i email the embassy during this time , i get the same answer that my case is pending final review , so sometimes it takes time . i really hope you get your visa soon as we all see that the embassy in cairo doing good work this months . keep contact the embassy and DOS. good luck

good morning

first I'm so sorry you having to go through the clean version of hell's games (USA embassy in Cairo) you really can not expect what they will do ?!!!!!!!

i think you was wrong when you asked for your passport cause thats all what they want cause they want you to give up. its not wise to show them that you give up .and maybe they think its kinda mean to ask for your passport cause why they keep it if they don't need it ????!!!!!!!!

and i don't know the answer of your question but tell your fiancée to call her senator or her congress man.he will call the embassy for you and then he will tell you whats really going on

my best wishes for ya

have a nice blessed day

Nothing's impossible . Nothing's unreachable .When I am weary you make me stronger

This love is beautiful .So unforgettable . I feel no winter cold when we are together .

Will you stand by me ?!!!Hold on and never let me go .

Will you stand by me?!! With you i know i belong . When the story gets told .

When day turns into night .I look into your eyes . I see my future now .All the world and its wonder

This love wont fade away. And through the hardest days . I will never question us .You are the reason my only reason.

I'm blessed to find what i need in a world loosing hope. you are my only believe .

You make things right every time after time.....

Will you stand by me ?!!!

I love you so much and i miss you so much more .

Thank you all for your posts. It's really frustrating to be apart from the one you love, and even though we had four visits during that time, and they were amazing but they just don't make up for the lost time. I think this particular embassy is well under staffed and inexperienced, I think it's really sad they made us plan our wedding and book the place and plane tickets as well as the honeymoon based on the issurance of the officer that the visa will be two weeks and we had to cancel all that. This whole waiting is draining us both financially and emotionally, and days go by where we seem to hang by the thread.

As for asking for my passport back, well I had to because I needed it at work and it's bad enough we're putting our lives on hold, I can't possibly damage my career as well.

Our attorney is suggesting we get married and file for K3, any thoughts on that??

That is so confusing. This long after you went in to sign a form and now you're back in AP??? I don't think I could handle that. Show me to the nearest bridge if after all this we have to go through AP again.

You are K-1 and had to fill out a DS230??

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

so sorry to hear you are going through this...but I am in your EXACT same position:

my hubby had his interview january 13th...they took his passport and told him the standard "congrats your visa will be issued in two weeks"...we waited the two weeks...and nothing happened...so i emailed the embassy, and my husband called them as well constantly (almost daily until now)...and the response was "the case is pending the officer's final review...once this is complete the visa will be issued and delivered via DHL"...now we kept getting this response until the end of february...and even when I called DOS...they stated that "Everything looked great...and it is just pending for cairo to issue the visa...it is in their hands"...i asked if he was undergoing AP and the response was "No"...then February 28th...i call DOS...after not hearing from Cairo for a week...and they tell me that "Cairo requested further administrative processing in D.C. today...call next week to make sure they are pending",...i was in shock...his paperwork was held for two months with no movement and ALL OF A SUDDEN they wanted AP to be done...

so now i guess we are in AP all over again...inshAllah it will not take long...but we must be patient... to answer your question regarding where your case is: DOS told me that these security checks are done "everywhere" not just in cairo or the USA...so there is no timeframe to predict when it will be completed...

please feel free to message me if you need anything :) this too shall pass inshAllah :) God is with us all in these troubling times...especially when dealing with a messed-up embassy like that of Cairo  take care :)

whatever it takes...or how my heart breaks...i will be right here waiting for you... 636.gif
