Do K3 applicants file I-864 or I-134?

Fellow K3ers ( sorry for the typo in topic I meant K3 not K1 ),

My understanding is that a K3 is a non-immigrant visa and thus does not require the I 864 affidavit of support. Is it true that petitioners file the I-134 affidavit of support initially for visa approval and I-864 for adjustment of status?

I'm several months away from doing this but want to prepare due to self employment. Thanks for any help.

Hello ZeeNusah, thanks for your reply.

Does the consular require orginal 1-134 to be sent to the spouse for interview or can we send/email copies of the I-134?

The guides are very educational. I highly recommend you learn about the process you're embarking on. Peacemeal questions carry the danger, you'll fail to ask about something important, you didn't think of because you didn't learn the process.

Your question cannot be answered reliably because there is no "N/A" visa. If yours is a K3 case, then no, the US Consulate in Guangzhou will not accept an I-134 in place of an I-864. The US Embassy in Beijing China will never see or have anything to do with your case. The Chinese Embassy in Washington DC won't have anything to do with it either.

My wife is south of Beijing and I am going there in June. I have filed my I-130 and documents with a lawyer already. She is not returning my calls or e-mails. I have been reading and can't find a good answer on this. I want to make sure that I give her the correct infrmation when I arrive to see her for the interview.

Thank you for filling in your profile and timeline. You can count on the answer you've been given above. Additionally, you'll want to consult the "Guide" as to what other documents to take along in addition to the I-134. Consult both the guide and I-134 instructions about supporting documentation.

Get the I-134 notarized in the US before you go.

Regardless of where your wife lives in China, her visa interview will be at the US Consulate in Guangzhou not the Embassy in Beijing.
