Does anyone know if you need the IRS tax return transcripts for sure? Are we going to be in trouble if we don't have these? We've got the print outs for the last few years from when he did his taxes, but not the actual IRS transcripts. I just read that the consulates treat I-134's as mini I-864's and to follow those instructions instead. Of course we followed the I-134 instructions and are now in a little bit of a panic! HELP! If anyone knows the answer to this question specifically regarding the consulate in Vancouver it would be greatly appreciated!

I apologize, I know this question has been asked before, but I can't find quite the same kind of situation.

We submitted my then- fiance's copies of his tax returns, not the official IRS transcripts and had no problems. If you are worried you can request the transcripts - they are free and generally come within 2 to 3 weeks - and have them available. I doubt you will receive an RFE, but if you do you would have them at hand.

Thanks for the answer Kathryn. I know that they're important when we file AOS, but wasn't sure how important they were for the interview.

If you're going to use copies of the ITR - make copies of the supporting documents (W-2, 1099, etc) to submit - the instructions suggest either this or the transcripts. The advantage to the transcripts is no supporting documents (W-2, 1099 etc) are needed.

I've went through a prior K1 and AOS before and I never provided official IRS transcripts. I'm in process again now and I don't plan on obtaining the transcripts, just going to bring copies of my last 3 years returns, copies of current W-2's and 1099's to the interview.

I have always used my copies (without a signature - because I file electronically) - never had a problem. Good Luck
