I-693A Medical Question on length of validity

My wife had her full medical (I693a) done on 10.2.07. We filed for AOS on 2.20.08. Is it possible that her medical will expire before our case is approved? Is it possible that she'll have to take another medical?

Any input is much appreciated.

Unlikely. The requirement is that the medical is still valid when you file for the AOS, not when the AOS is approved. My medical was done in March, 2004, I filed for my AOS July 2004. My AOS was not approved until May, 2006 and I was not required to submit any additional or new medical information. I wouldn't worry about it.

Now, it has happened that medicals have 'gone missing' and people have received an RFE for a medical even though they originally submitted one. That has nothing to do with the medical expiring though.

Thanks for the info. That's good to know. Of course we have a copy and doctor's receipt of the submitted sealed original. Don't know if that would cut it for an RFE for a lost 693. Hope so.

I´m not sure but the form my doc signed said it was valid for a year...please take a look if it´s written on your form too...I had my physical done sometimes in September last year I think and just filed for AOS and I think it still will be fine

We filed AOS only a couple weeks before the medical would have been a year old. The AOS was successful without issue six months later. However, when I emailed the local office about whether a new medical would be required, their answer was, "That's up to the adjudicator."

My take is that they go by the requirement to file within a year of the medical.
