OK, so how did you all with RFE's find out you had one BEFORE you were sent a mail notice?

Did you see it in your online case status?

Was it thru the RFE automated line?

Did you as a USCIS customer service operator?

I keep hearing that people know they have an RFE BEFORE they ever receive anything in the mail. How did you find this out?

People receive a notification on their on-line status that they were mailed an RFE. I don't know if they also get an email or not. You can register at www.uscis.gov, list your file number (on your NOA1) and you can then follow along on when your file is looked at ('touched') or if something happens to your file, like an RFE. unfortunately, you have to wait until you receive the actual paper document before you know what the RFE is for.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

OH ok, my case online still says pending, I've received a few touches. I called the RFE line and it just says..."you need to submit the requested information"....so i was wondering if that is a RFE? But the customer service agent says they don't see an RFE notice on my case but that my case is being adjucated. So I was starting to get confused as to whether I have an RFE or not.

Well, I just got an RFE in the mail today. It just magically showed up in the mailbox. Our USCIS online status still hasn't changed, and I never received an e-mail.

But that's okay, it's for something simple, and it's all ready to be mailed back on Monday! :)

We are registered online with USCIS too.

We never got any e mail neither did it show in our status.

My husband had called using the RFE trick and was told there wasn't any...

He finally got an apointment with infopass to find out a RFE had been sent since a couple of months... where we still don't know, we never got it... But sure the next week was it showing in our status... but still not coming, a nice USCIS lady (yes there are a few) finally faxed it to us... and we still have not received it in the mail since... but at least we were able to send the missing documents...

So we found out with Infopass apointment...

Good luck.

I'm confused then....so how did you know there was an RFE in the first place if you never got an email status change and the RFE lady said there wasn't one?
