Folks -

Yippeee!!! Visa approved and received. Now for a question.

My financee will be flying on Aerosvit from Kiev to Terminal 4 in JFK airport in New York. I need to specify a landmark within the terminal I can meet her at.

I am not familiar with Terminal 4. Do you have any suggestions? Are there benches immediately outside of the customs office? Is there a McDonald's there? Any other named restaurants a Ukrainian is likely to recognize? Is there a large mural or statute?

Thanks much for helping.

I'm assuming there is some sort of international arrivals area where you can meet after your fiance clears immigration and customs. You wont be able to meet inside the secure zone.

When she clears immigration and customs, she will exit through the a set of double doors into arrivals hall. There is only one way to exit the customs area. If you are waiting for her (along with the 200 other people waiting for loved ones), just stand in front and you'll be able to see every single person coming out. You can't miss her.

Another option may be the "Hudson News" newspaper stand/store or the "Au Bon Pain" stand that sells pastries and coffee directly straight ahead as she exits customs into the terminal.

PM me if confused.

Oh yes please meet at Au Bon Pain if you're going to a food place and not McDonalds

Big ol Welcome to America sign, the golden arches...ugh no...

If your fiance is going through JFK, tell her to see if she can get that temporary authorization to work stamp from customs! Keep hearing JFK is like the last airport to give those. Might save you guys some headache later.

Congratulations and I'm sure it'll all be great. You must be feeling so good right now :)

Kid Brooklyn:

Thank you very much. This is helpful!

I did not want my fiancee to find herself lost in a strange airport after a long, difficult journey from Zaporozhye, Ukraine. I wish the very best for you and your bride!

You will not be able to meet her in the Terminal 4 area. She will go through customs which is right next to the baggage claim. Since you are going to meet here there you will have to meet her next to the exit of the baggage claim area. Wherever that may be.

Whenever I went to the JFK I had a connecting flight so I was required to go through security.

You will find your loved one, no worries! :)

I'm not sure what you mean by "You will not be able to meet her in the Terminal 4 area" because that's exactly where he'll meet her. There is only one exit from baggage/customs and it leads into Terminal 4. If he stands there when she comes out, he'll see her.
