Thanks for sharing! Made me tear up with happy thoughts (the first time since this process has started). Thanks for sharing the song, I just DL on iTunes. I wonder if any immigrants to Canada have made any songs about our Canadian Land?!

Mike and I later laughed that we wanted him to pull out a a big stamp with the word APPROVED on it, followed by a frenzy of official-sounding stamping with papers flying everywhere, and we'd walk away dazed with a big 'ol official approved stamp. As it stands you walk away with only your little $131 receipt and a feeling of ... did we really get approved?

Great review Gypsy, congratulations!

Now someone get a cattle prod for IR5.

I'm crying!!!!

Your post was wonderful, thank you and congratulations!

I didn't get a chance to read it yesterday as I had an awful headache...I saw it and went to read it but decided I needed to lay down.

I wish both you and Mike a lifetime of happiness together.

:)

Hugs to you hon

Hi! Thanks to everyone for your congratulations! I'm finally coming up for air after getting sick after the interview. I guess all that adrenaline was keeping it at bay.

There are no crazy questions only crazy people.

That's good to know Mumsie! I think I may have qualified in the days leading up to the interview. Can you say, "compulsive folder checking"?

i felt all the emotion and could quite quite well imagine doing exactly the same with my sweet.

I just need to convince him *hum* (well he wants to go anyway.. but that depend of his job) to really come :P

I know I could have done this on my own, but we decided it was an important event to experience together. I was so happy to have him with me ... to help manage my nerves (he wasn't nervous at all!) and more importantly to experience the approval together. I know things like money, jobs, and timing can prevent your honey from coming with you, but it's sure great to have the support!

I get teary reading this too-especially on a day that we just found out we have our INTERVIEW IN 13 DAYS!!!!!!!!!! I'm so stressed out! But this post has relieved so many of my fears. Thanks so much-the Bruce Springsteen song is one I'd never heard before-BUT THANK YOU! Its perfect :)

Congrats on your interview! Best of luck ... glad to have helped out in my small way. I'm glad you liked the Bruce song! On his current tour, it's the closing song of the concert. Mike and I get teary-eyed when he plays it.

I haven't heard any Canadian songs like American Land, but another song by Jann Arden, "Waiting in Canada" might be appropriate for some here!

(the pictures are hokey, but you can hear the song)

Buy a ticket for a plane

and come and see me, baby

Or drive your car all night

By just starlight

To Canada

That's where I'll be

Waiting

I'm crying!!!!

Thanks so much Laura! Tears of joy, I hope! Once again, thanks to everyone! It would have been a more bumpy experience without everyone's help and support.

My Husband was sick after his interview too - bad bad cold for a week and a half. My advice to those of your going to interviews in MTL, take some purell hand sanitizer or something!

Gypsyangel,

Many congrats on your approval. Many of us here have gone thru the exact same thing as you (Mine was approved on Feb 6, 2008 in Montreal) and the feeling that the burden is lifted is amazing.

It's funny you bring up that you wanted to visit before you actually want to move down, b/c I was going through the exact same thing - but never asked and decided on not chancing it. It was my fiance's sister's baby shower in Detroit last weekend, and I don't plan on moving until April. It's so frustrating that before, it would be a breeze going to the States when you're younger - travelling with your parents, friends, etc. But now with a Visa, prospects of getting married to an American, there's so much worry about getting rejected (i was once before).

It's exciting to know that we're not alone here - and there are many people to help us out :star:

And just when I thought it was all over after the interview (before joining VJ)...there's MORE paperwork to do after getting married. ARGH!
