How about: God Love America?

So, when recently driving through Florida, I saw a license plate that said, "God Bless America", and well, I am not religious or anything and statements such as that are sure strange to me.

And so I felt that statement...closed my eyes (my partner was driving, hee hee, not me), and let it sink in....deep.

I opened my eyes and said, "What about, 'God love America'?" to my baffled sweetie as he never knows where my thoughts originate.

(come to think of it now I wonder if USians would be better served if they stopped worrying if god blesses or loves them and simply blessed others with their love)

Although I am uneasy still with God and country shtuff, and yet this expression feels better.

What say you?

I did use the word love and not loves because it could be like a sweet and unselfish request:

"Please love us."

I always thought that "God Bless America" was a rather cheeky request (demand?), on many levels.

I meant that it would be polite to let God know that Americans are aware that he might be distracted by other concerns. Mars could need some work, for example.

I'd say that England is all set, with God saving the queen and all. The U.S. national anthem is all about flags and bombs.
