In your experiences, is it a good idea for the petitioner to attend the Vancouver interview? I keep telling him no worries! I can handle it! There's nothing to worry about! In there, answer questions, wait, answer more questions, wait, then out you go.

Does the interviewer ask the petitioner questions if he is there or he's there just to well, BE there?

My man is wondering if he should just fly over on Sunday, attend the interview on Monday, then fly out Monday night or Tuesday. I think it's pointless, since plenty of beneficiaries attend interviews alone.

If I have all my paperwork intact and don't look, speak, or act like a mail order bride I should be able to go to the interview alone, right?

I'm an independent person, confident, blah blah, so aside from all that, he doesn't need to be there, correct?

Sorry for the rudeness of the post, I'm in a rush before he books the ticket!

Thanks all!

I think its a waste of money for him to go just for the weekend. Hes not needed there. the only reason why i had amber there was because we were assuming the visa would go well and be approved (which it was) and that we would fly back home together to the USA..

When i had my interview, the CO did ask her questions, but it was mostly just conversational types.. We were moving to a town that was close to where she used to live so Amber and the CO chatted a bit about Illinois.

If you've got all your papers in order and plenty of evidence, hes not needed. Besides, at my interview, all they wanted to see was pictures of us together even though we had about half an acres worth of trees cut down to print out our evidence

as a petitioner who attended the vancouver interview with my fiance (who posted right before me :) ) ... I'm really glad I went. I honestly don't think it is "necessary" or required of the petitioner to go. The interview is really easy and if your case is pretty straightforward you won't have any problems. The interviewer DID ask me a few questions. All in all it was a great thing to experience with my SO and I'm very glad I was there for it. Beautiful city, great place to just walk around and sight see(if you catch a day it ISN'T raining  ). It's an experience I'll never forget. :)

Is it a MUST for the Canadian consulates no! Not a requirement at all! Some places in the world it is, but not in Van or Mtl!! Yes its nice for moral support, but not a requirment

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Mel didn't come to Vancouver with me. I would have loved for him to see Vancouver but he couldn't take the time off work. Plus I really did enjoy having 3 days to myself.

There was 3 of us for K interviews that day. The other 2 ladies were K1's and we were all there solo.
