I want to increase my protein intake. I want to eat 6 eggs a day. I refuse to eat 6 yolks a day. that would be way too much colestherol and way too many calories. 6 whites would be 100 calories and 18g protein

My co-worker said those egg white in cartons taste nasty. And I really like the taste of real egg white

my only complaint about the egg whites in the carton is that they sometimes have a little wet stuff coming off of them after they're cooked. Noticed that a few times. Otherwise if you add some salt & pepper they're good

so u can cook them just like eggs? like boil or scramble?

The egg whites from a carton are not too bad. Like Amber said, sometimes they're a little wet. I don't think you can boil them, at least I've never tried, but I like to scramble mine with salsa.

Make Egg Yolk Hair Conditioner

Things You’ll Need:

* 1 Egg yolk

* 1 Tablespoon olive or baby oil

Step 1:

Begin by cracking open one egg yolk into a mixing bowl. Beat the egg yolk quickly with a fork or whisk until it is completely broken up.

Step 2:

Add one tablespoon of olive oil. Beat again with the whisk or fork until it is well mixed. Baby oil can also be substituted for the olive oil for a better fragrance.

Step 3:

Mix in one cup of lukewarm water. Mixing the water in will dilute the mixture and make it easier to spread evenly throughout your whole head of hair.

Step 4:

Wet hair completely. It is best to apply the conditioning treatment to clean hair, so wash hair with a gentle shampoo, rinse and squeeze excess water from hair.

Step 5:

Pour half the egg yolk conditioner on top of the head, trying to avoid the face. While egg yolk is good for the face as well, the oil in the mixture is not. Use hands to apply the other half of the conditioner to the bottom of hair.

Step 6:

Run the conditioner through with your finger tips to ensure even coating. Let it set for 5 minutes.

Step 7:

Rinse your hair thoroughly with lukewarm or cool water. It is important not to use hot water because it may cook the egg yolk in your hair and require another washing. Cool water is good for hair because it makes it shiny.

egg Yolk & Honey Facial Mask (Best for dry skin types)

Mix Together in equal proportion

• Honey, Egg yolk, Almond oil, Yogurt

Honey stimulates and smoothes, egg and almond oil penetrates and moisturizes, and yogurt refines and tightens pores.

Egg Yolk, Avocado & Mud Facial Mask (Best for oily skin types)

Clay or fuller's earth mud is available in powder form at any Health food store or Nutrition outlets.

Mix Together in equal proportion:

• Dry clay, Egg yolk, Mashed Avocado, Witch hazel

Mud dries excess sebum while the egg yolk and avocado replenish lost moisture. Witch hazel acts as a toner.

South of Shanghai Moisturizing Treatment

In Chinese medicine, ginseng is believed to cure impotence. It can also rejuvinate dry, over processed hair and scalp.

1/2 avacado

2 pinches of ginseng powder

1 egg yolk

1-Mash the avacado and mix in the ginseng powder and egg yolk.

2-Massage the mask into your scalp, wrap a thin towel around your

head, and leave on for 10 minutes.

3-Rinse, then shampoo

Depending on your skin type, here are some great masks to try. For oily skin use some plain Milk of Magnesia, rub it on and let dry, then rinse with lukewarm water. It absorbs oil wonderfully!

For Normal/combination skin mix one egg and 1/2 cup cooked instant oatmeal and a teaspoon olive oil until smooth. Spread on your face and leave 15 min then rinse.

For dry skin, mix one egg yolk, one teaspoon honey and a teaspoon olive oil and some vitamin E oil if you have it. Smooth on and leave on for 15 min. , rinse in lukewarm water and pat dry. If your skin is a bit dry you can put a dab or two of either olive oil, or any other light oil.

Throw caution to the wind and make a 6 egg omelet or scrambled eggs....

You can add cheese, onions, peppers or anything else that suits you.

So long as the eggs are not overcooked, the yolks have anti-cholesterol properties.

I dunno. I'm really wary of any change in eating that puts an emphasis on only one nutritional component.

I'm not putting emphasis on only one nutritional component. I've been eating way more carbs than protein, I need to increase the protein. The rest will stay the same.

The egg whites are worth a try.

That said, I don't think it's a good idea to eat the same thing every day.

i'll be eating probably twice a week. I'd get sick pretty fast if I ate it every day. So like Mondays and Wednesdays, 6 whites every day, I can buy only 1 dozen of eggs a week.

Nessa,

You are already thin and healthy, proven at the KC meetup.

Given the anecdotal evidence from my wife, who eats pretty much anything with no appreciable weight gain, you should not worry about it.

Eat whatever you want, in appropriate moderation. That combined with exercise, will ensure long term good health.

This guidance is preached by most doctors on the planet.

There have got to be more important things in the world to obsess about than dieting. The weight loss thread borders on seriously disordered almost every day.

Would it really be bad for your workout for you to eat the yolk? There's loads of health advantages to the yoke, including proteins that inhibit bloold clots and lutein, which helps prevent macular degeneration.

I agree. Nessa, if you want a lean protein supplement, I would recommend a soy or whey protein mix - something that's going to give you enough lean protein.

Whey Protein

Like soy protein, whey protein has been shown to provide a number of benefits. For example, clinical studies have shown whey protein can:

* Act as a natural antibacterial or anti-viral

* Assist in maintaining the proper weight

* Reduce the symptoms of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

* Reduce liver damage

* Improve the function of the immune system

* Improve blood pressure

* Improve athletic performance

* Improve the function of the digestive system

* Reduce gastric mucosal injury

Whey protein is very high in biological value (BV), which is highly sought by athletes. In short, BV is the amount of protein your body can replace with 100 grams of consumed diet. The only other foods containing high levels of BV are whole eggs and egg whites. Unlike eggs, however, whey protein does not contain high levels of fat.

I say ditto to both these comments... Also note that most cholesterol in your body is produced by your liver, not from foods!! If cholesterol is a concern, try keeping an eye on saturated fats, and even more importantly, staying active.
