I received my NOA-1 from Vermont with a Notice Date of March 20, 2008. The first step on the long road ahead!

I'm also able to see it online so I'm sure I'll start obsessively checking our status.

**LOL Obssesive/Compulsive about checking your status? LOL, I'm sure USCIS already hates me! ;)

spreadsheet updated.

Hello! I'm new to these forums and just mailed out our I-130 today. You can add us to the list if you'd like.

**Welcome aboard, enigmatic1!

We're a small group but I think we'll be great at keeping

each other well-informed and animated throughout this

journey.

Congrats on your nuptials!

spreadsheet updated. you guys are added.

I tried to add myself onto the spreadsheet in vain. Please add me. see my time line

Gracey.

**Greetings Gracey:

Sorry, I'm only tracking CR-1/IR-1 filers. :(

I don't understand the K3 process and it seemed to complicate

things to add more paperwork.

However, feel free to start a K3 spreadsheet.

Hi March Filers!

I had a little down time today and started looking into the K-3 visa. I decided to write here in our thread because we are all at the same stage in this process and I haven't found a great thread elsewhere with sufficient answers or maybe I just couldn't find it.

I saw that Gracey has filed an I-129F and I'm wondering what everyone else is planning on doing. Its my understanding that the K-3 can go a lot faster (especially at NVC) and that my husband can travel between the U.S. and Italy on it while the I-130 is still pending (or we can apply for Adjustment of Status here). I called USCIS and the woman I spoke to strongly suggested I apply for it because at this stage it doesn't cost any extra and because it was going to take "234 days to adjudicate the I-130" (thats not counting the NVC and Italy part)!!!. I'm thinking its worth a try so that my husband can at least visit me here! My vacation time, holidays, and personal days can only be stretched so far for trips to visit him!

For those of you that have filed or are planning to file the I-129F, what are you sending with it? The person from USCIS said I only need to send the I-129F, a copy of the NOA1 (as evidence of the I-130), and a copy of my marriage certificate. She said that the G-325A didn't need to be sent again because it had already been sent with the I-130. This is all in contrast to what the VJ guide says: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...mp;page=k3guide. I wish the guides included WHY certain things should be sent when USCIS instructions indicate otherwise: http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/I-129Finstr.pdf (only documents from Items 1,2 and 4 are required). I verified this requirement with USCIS (not that they actually know anything).

I would love to hear what everyone thinks!

Jennifer

Hello, Jennifer,

We are more or less decided that we are not going to file I-129F for the K3 visa and stick to the IR1 process unless things changed in the near future.

The general impression I got from researching on various unofficial forums like this one: K3 doesn't make it much quicker than it used to, and there are many recent examples of people got their I-130 and I-129F approved almost concurrently.

If being reunited as quickly as possible is the main concern and the extra money and extra paperwork for the "adjustment of status" is not a major issues, then go ahead with filing the I-129F. But, do bear in mind that there are some speculations somehwere on this forum that filing I-129F might even slow down the processing of I-130.

Add the G-325As... Whatever the lady told you, best to follow the rules! Who knows how and when they put together the petitions! And do not forget the photos.

We filed the K-3 because we think that it will be quicker than the CR1... Everyone files for CR1, not everyone files for K-3... Also, you save time at NVC (hopefully). Faster at the consulate (hopefully). And you only waste more time once you are at least already reunited. We count on a speedier AOS further down the line once USCIS has put itself together after the big summer crisis, rather than a speedy CR-1 procedure right now.

It seems that the date of filing the I-130 is what matters also for the K-3, but at any rate we filed only 10 days apart or so...

Good luck!

Jennifer, I don't see that anyone replied to you yet. (I have not found a way of keeping up with specific topics I have contributed to, I am sure there is a way, I just haven't had the time to find it yet)

"Pushbrk" one of the high-level topic contributors seems to think its not advantagious to file the I-129F, but I say everyones needs are different. I filed the I-130 and immediately followed it with the I-129F mainly because, according to my calendar calculations, it may take longer for my husband to get here via I-130 route as opposed to the I-129F route. I know with the I-129F, he will get here faster, even though he will not begin working (since we have to resume the I-130 process and even pay considerable amounts of money to re-open and get a work authorization). Like I said everybody's needs are different. I'd rather shorten the separation and have him here to wait here, than look forward to possibly another year of separation.

Please browse through the Visa Journey pages and you will find (as I finally found out), possibly all the information you could possibly need to help you with your visa journey. This includes a very inclusive guide to exactly what you need to attach to various applications. You may start by posting your time line and also viewing a very up-to-date report of timelines posted by members in this forum. The timelines are only as accurate as put in by the members.

Good luck on your journey

Gracey.

Can we be added to the list too?

-We sent off the I-130 paperwork on March 25

-Received by the USCIS Chicago lockbox on March 28

-Received the I0787C Notice of Action today, April 5.

It did freak me out a little to read the paper they sent... in one place it states:

"If this case in an I-130 Petition....To best allocate resources, USCIS may wait to process forms I-130 until closer to the time when a visa number will become available, which may be years after the petition was filed."

What is that supposed to mean?

Anyway, I'm glad we're on our way!

Thanks!

I'm a USC married to a french man who has been living in Canada for about 20 years.

March of 2005 -Met each other by chance in in Niagara Falls

April of 2005- after a ton of emails, arranged to meet in Montreal, now it's really getting exciting

May of 2005- tons of emails, he comes to visit Kentucky- we are so in love

In between visits to Toronto and KY, we go to Honduras, Montreal, Vancouver for vacations.

Sept 1, 2007 -Back and forth visits in between, IM and Skype, now we take the plunge and get married. We are so happy and my family and friends love him as much as I do!

March 25, 2008- Mailed out the I-130... finally!!!

April 4, 2008- Received the NOA1!!!

Sept. 2008 We went to Paris and the south of France (our 1st anniversary spent here) to visit my new family- with a quick peek at Spain. I love his mom and his son!

Just received a notice that we are moved to the CSC! I hear that is very good news! The date on the letter is Nov. 5.

Dec 16- Received our I-797C, Notice of Action Approval Notice with a Notice Date of Dec. 5 - super excited!

Called and told about change of address (in Canada) for beneficiary 12-22-08

Jan 11 2009 -Receipt of AOS Fee payment.

Feb 5- emailed DS-3032 and mailed the hard copy.

Feb 11- received confirmation email for DS-3032

March 29- 2009 Online payment of IV fee

Jan 11, 2010- husband spoke with NVC- still haven't received DS-230... she said since we paid online that we won't receive a package- just download forms- she sent him link to instructions via email.
