Hi I'm a little worried that something is wrong, or lost in the mail... We live in an apartment complex and our mailman has gotten lazy and stopped sorting mail a while ago, and lots fell in the recycling bin!

Kosta had his Biometrics on Jan 18, and we heard nothing back until 2/27 when we got a letter in the mail setting his I-485 adjustment interview on April 24th! We were really happy to receive that, but I'm confused as to how they have scheduled the interview without approving the EAD first..

Don't both the EAD and appointment setting depend on the results of the Biometrics, when they are all filed together (as we did) at the chicago lock box??

Even so, I've been neurotically checking the USCIS case status online for all our files, and it's odd to me, but they havent even TOUCHED the AOS file since january 11th when they sent the biometrics appointment letter..

However, they TOUCHED the EAD on 2/25... two days before we got the letter about the interview date!

Nothing has been updated since and we are going nuts! We need two incomes! Of course, calling USCIS they just tell us to keep waiting.

I'm worried that 1) the online system isn't accurate / up to date?

2) we lost the ead letter or

3) something is holding up the ead?

Does anyone know if they update the status of the 485 online when they send out the interview date letter? Our still says "Received and pending"

Thanks so much! Wondering if we should make an infopass appointment...

I have read of many who end up getting green-card before EAD. If that happens USCIS will cancel the EAD in favor of the green-card.

EAD, AP, and AOS are handled by different people, so can process at different rates, some field offices are faster than others, so someties the field office will beat the other departments.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

Ug, but I thought the EAD had to be processed w/in 90 days... and is it 90 days from the biometrics appointment, or is it 90 days from NOA1 ?

In that case, we'll be months late if we have to wait for a green card!

I'm sure its 90 days from NOA1.

good luck!

I wanted to update this in case anyone else finds it helpful.

I wish we had not been patient and continued waiting after we saw the "touch" on our EAD on Feb 25.

Our EAD was actually APPROVED on that date!

What happened was we went in for our Infopass appointment on Monday, and found out that at the Biometrics, the paperwork was never completed.. one page was signed and sent on for the I485 AOS, but the paper that was supposed to be sent to the EAD was never signed or filed. So there was a note on the EAD saying "awaiting biometrics approval".

We got a referral slip, Kosta went in for biometrics AGAIN (lovely paying $15 for parking each time, right?), they reprinted and photographed him and sent the paperwork in. Within TWO HOURS, I got a CRIS email notification of "EAD CARD PRODUCTION ORDERED". Seriously, by trying to be patient and do the right thing, we set back his ability to begin work by nearly 1 whole month. I don't know about you guys, but the amount of money we just lost waiting on this card unnecessarily is perturbing.

They would never have notified us, either...

So I recommend making an INFOPASS appointment if you've been waiting longer than the average, NOT if you've been waiting longer than the maximum!

Cheers!
