Do you speak german? there is a website call alta vista-babel..they translate all languagues on this site. I was reading about a vj member who translated the document herself (american citzen) and then went to a notary and he notarized it for her.. you could try this.. I am not 100% sure this is accurate I have heard this from someonelse...

babel fish isnt always accurate. I wouldn't recomend using this to do official translations.. it fine to get you started but its definitely not the final word. I would have someone that actually speaks both languages do the translation.

I translated my documents for my petition and got it notarized - I had no problems.

If all else fails, you could always go through a phone book and call the companies found and visit places to get a translator...

Why don't you ask the embassy where you can find one. The embassies usually have a list of translators - I would ask for this. I am assuming that a court appointed translator an individual that has a license/ is registered to translate documents in SA.

When i was living in the Dominican Republic and had to get documents translated for use in DR they were supposed to be signed by an individual who was registered to do translations then taken to to the court to verify that the person was indeed registered. The court then placed seals on the documents to make it an official translation. Perhaps its a similar process in SA??

Anyways because I speak Spanish when i needed documents done in DR I would translate them myself then just go to a lawyer to get them signed so i could get them legalized. THis way they were just charging for their signature, and not the translation of the document.

It might be more of a hassle to do it that way. So if you don't know too many people that can do that or direct you where to do that contact the embassy to see if they have a list of recommended translators OR call up translators and ask them if they are a "court appointed translator".
