According to polls, 9 out of 10 black people in Mississippi voted for Obama and 7 out of 10 white people voted for Clinton. Does that mean Mississippi voters are racist? If so, are Mississippi blacks are more racist than whites? Or is there some other explanation?

No. They are not racist. Racism is a very big topic in this race, but, there is a fine line between racism and walking the path to nirvana. Racism is directed towards the people who are unaware or uneducated, and it's used to manipulate the outcome of politics. By attacking the idea of racism in elections, it undermines the education of the American majority.

For example, if you are educated and black, you would vote in favor of the politicians supporting for your needs. If you are uneducated and just vote because he's the same color, then you are wrong fully accepting faith. The part of speech that racism is referring to in this election is the 2nd example. The people are dumb, so they just vote for whomever the color of the person is.

"Racist" is another one of those faddish words that get overused and misused way too often.

I think "tribalism" is more appropriate to describe these voting patterns. Let's face reality. People gravitate to their own kind. Who else shares their common interests and values best? It isn't just in the USA...it goes on all over the world. It's human nature.

It's just that some people in the USA have this mindset that the USA is some sort of "Jesus" (the mentality that the USA is supposed to be perfect example) and the most idealistic among us are appalled that this pattern of behavior exists. Welcome to reality.

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

"...for the system to be credible, people actually have to be deported at the end of the process."

US Congresswoman Barbara Jordan (D-TX)

Testimony to the House Immigration Subcommittee, February 24, 1995
