It is?

I don't think its really a surprise that opinion on a controversial policy seen largely as the province of this Republican administration is poorer among Democrats than it is among Republicans.

I don't really think these statistics really prove anything that wasn't evident before.

It is without a doubt. If we were still getting our butts kicked with no hope of avoiding a continuing bloodbath it would give the dems another talking point to use against McCain. As it stands now all they can do is play to their base about how they think it was wrong to start in the first place. But that is preaching to the choir, it doesn't change minds.

I thought it said Dems were in step with the public mood on the decision to go to war...

Given that we've had 12 more US troop casualties in the last week or so, not to mention the continuing pattern of assassinated Iraqi officials - its hardly a statement of progress. It really depends who you believe - there are still millions of displaced people over there who aren't exactly happy with the way their government has apparently ignored them.

McCain has shown himself to be in step with Bush on this issue, and that I think will do him as much harm as good.

Besides - I don't think Iraq will be a pivotal election issue, I really don't.

Iraq will just serve as a reminder of our blunders... err I mean Republican blunders. Sure if you throw enough dirt at someone you're bound to bury them...

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

Does it matter if we are doing better? This news is about 4 years late and half a trillion over budget.

Nor does doing better now, justifiy spending all the money and resources we did in that country.

Or killing...

Indeed - in the hundreds of thousands, plus 1m plus displaced people. Really puts it into perspective.

The human perspective is not really cared for in some circles over here. Never mind that this includes those in uniform on our force-fed side.

I think it is but in a rather twisted way.

The killing by Saddam was unjustifiable. The killing and displacement directly or indirectly due to our policies in Iraq is justifiable.
