Hey guys I confused a little bit about filling out paperwork. We got married already I was wondering when I fill out the paperwork like I-485 do I put her maiden name on all the paperwork or do I put her name with my last name. I am guessing Maiden name.

depends which name she wants to use in the future! the name youre going to use in your aos paperwork is going to be on your green card! if you need to change the name on your green card later you have to file a certain form and pay a lot of money for the change.

so deciede wisely!

So I can we go ahead and put my last name as her last now even if we haven't done any changes on her social security card. I wasn't sure when to do it because I know we got married but didn't think we could change her last name until we had her social security card changed over. So does that go for the bank account too or do you have to have an ID showing she has my last name?

When I went to open up the new joint account with husband I just showed them my marriage certificate with my passport and that was fine, til now I still havent changed my maiden name to married name at the social security office since I guess its not neccesarry I dont want to make 2 trips so I will just go change it when I receive green card that way I shoot two birds at once  And yeah it would be better to put her married name on all documents that way in my opinion it proofs its a ligitimate marriage and all that.... Good luck to you

I have a question regarding this, since we applied for my AOS on my maiden name. This is because I'm a citizen from Spain and women there do not lose their maiden names when married. Nobody does. Therefor I did apply for my AOS on my maiden name since I would never be able to change my last name on my Spanish passport. In the event of me getting my GC in the future and traveling abroad I don't want to have problems by having a name that won't match my passport. Would this be a problem? I assume that since every country has its own bureaucracy this won't instigate any problems right?
