My lawyer mailed in my package about a week ago but a week before I applied for an expedite. Now my package that he mailed and my USCIS file are seperated and I have no idea how they are going to find this one little envelope in the massive NVC. I wonder what I can do to help. Should I just plan on having all new originals.. What should I do? Its so expensive to DHL to Algeria... 100 dollars for one letter there.. I am really at a loss... Should I wait until NVC finds my package and fowards it or should I take steps to send all new docs there? International express mail takes 2 months to get to Algeria. Dhl is my only option but its so crazy expensive and they may need multiple docs by the time the interview hits...Should I start mailing things that direction or wait for an instruction package from the embassy?

Can you contact those at the the nvc and tell them to send it along themselves? That way they have a heads up to look for it and you don't have to spend your money mailing it.

My request for expedite was not addressed for 2 weeks. Are you sure your expedite request has already been acted upon? Usually, NVC takes 2 weeks to properly register receipt of new documents. If it is a fact that your case has been forwarded to consulate and the remaining docs are sent to NVC later, it might be a good idea to send another set to the beneficiary or to consulate.

Good Luck.

I just got an email from the NVC that everything finally caught up and the remaining documents have been sent to Algiers. I sent my expedite request about 2 and a 1/2 weeks ago and it was approved this Monday. Immediately my file was shipped out the next day to Algiers. Then my lawyer who had disappearred for two weeks re appeared and sent my marriage certificates and stuff like that out on the 4 th and now its the 13 so your 2 week theory is pretty in line. There is a major difference probably between your case and mine. Algeria an extremely low volume consulate ( do not ask me why but it is) My theory is that they just do not have alot of k3s and cr1s going through there because its extremely difficult to get married there and it people do they usually marry in Tunis and then if they do a k3 , it goes through there. I have seen k1s just fly through there where a k1 in some other countries can take months to schedule

I got married last May 2007 and sent off my papers June 2007 and they did not process my papers until July 2nd. I have had a long ride of it.. I also am at the last part of the process with all fee bills paid, just waiting on the i864 to be approved and the ds230 to be done which is really done over in Algeria anyway when they do a DCF. So I am kind of doing a year long DCF LOL LOL LOL . I am just waiting on the interview and for someone to contact us

The expedite was requested by the PI supervisor on the 7th. They emailed Algiers. Algiers responded yes that Monday

which was approved the 10th. My packet left on the 11th. The set of documents arrived on the 5th. It took them a week to find them ( LOL). The NVC emailed my attorney today and said they packaged up his documents today and they will go out in the mail probably tonight or tomorrow for Algiers. I think I am realistically looking at the 1st package taking a week and the second package taking another week which puts both packages there the last week of March. Mohamed has to get his medical sometime this week and I am sure it takes a while for blood results and stuff like that to come back. I think it will take another couple of weeks for them to schedule him. I think it would be realistic to say that his interview will probably be the first or second week of April. Then I am not sure how long it will be if he passes to get his visa issued. Who knows? Maybe they will move faster? All I know is that I am really surprised they granted it and as soon as Algiers has all his items they will most likely set an interview date

Hachemi went to the women Dr for his medical. There are only 2 drs in Algiers that do the medicals. Anyway, he had his medical done on a Monday. The results was ready in one week. He went the next Tuesday to pick it up. Right after he left the Dr's office, he called the embassy and told them he had the medical results and his pkt 3 ready and they gave him an appointment for the interview the following Sunday. So things could move very quickly now.

wahrania,

I would have him do his medical immediately as that will probably take longer than it will for the Consulate to get him an interview. I think it took us a week to get the bloodwork results. And, I would not wait for them to schedule the interview for you. I would e-mail them now, tell them you are gathering needed documents and just double check which docs they will need (better safe than sorry, plus it reminds them you are coming through the pipe). Then, as soon as you have those I would call the Consulate and schedule an interview. They really do let you come in as soon as you are ready. Then, the visa itself should arrive at UPS ten days (max) later. This isn't the NVC--you can call or e-mail them any questions and they will be helpful. Isn't it nice to be on the last few steps?

My husband is going saturday for his medical and will do it over a couple of days. He already went to the clinic , he just needs to meet the dr. As far as the rest of the stuff, the lawyer wants us to wait till the beginning of next week till they get the papers ( both sets) so they are not confused... I think we will end up with an April interview

When our papers were stuck somewhere between Rome and Algiers (I hate the diplomatic pouch), I called and e-mailed Algiers fairly constantly. They were really good, as frustrated as I was, and even called Rome themselves to see what was happening. They did so again when we got caught in the Adam Walsh runaround. So, my only point is that you have nothing to loose from taking a proactive approach with them. I also found that lawyerly advice was usually based on their experience with other Consulates that were not nearly as helpful or fast as Algiers so I just ignored the lawyers. Sounds like the difference here is only a question of a week or so anyway, but it you want to get it done as soon as possible, call to schedule the interview yourself. And, given that you can get info directly from them, I would just double check the docs list before he sets out from Oran.
