Hi, He finally got his passport, but now the interview is not until JULY 17th!!!!! This is killing me! He is supposed to have his medical tomorrow, but now I worry that it is too soon, and that they will ask him for another one. Do you happen to know if we can buy the plane ticket here, does he have to come direct to JFK from Cuba or can he fly through Mexico(I am asking because he won't have a visa for Mexico. I can't figure out now how to post this on the portal page for Cuba. Thanks for all you other info, it was very helpful!---Karena

Medicals are good for one year...

He can come to the USA via any route you wish... direct or 17 stops in between in doesn't matter. What matters is that the first airport that is on US soil he will clear immigration (or has a pre-clearance station)

YMMV

Thank you, I will tell him not to change the medical appointment. I imagine JFK airport will have the proper immigration station. Does anyone happen to know if we can get the plane ticket here, and he checks in electronically there, or does he need a ticket in hand to exit Cuba?---Thanks all!

great questions!

i know that JFK is the best airport to come in through because they can do something for the work permit that other airports cant.

however, there are no direct flights that I know of.

so the good question is do cubans need a mexican visa to land in cancun and board their next plane up to JFK in NYC?

I believe there are direct flights from Havana to JFK on Air Jamaica. See nashtravel.com for a good list of flights to/from Cuba.

He wont need any type of visa to change planes in mexico....the only reason he would need to have a visa is if he leaves the airport.

Havent any of you seen the movie "The Terminal" Legally one could live in the airport and be in mexico because it is considered international territory...he can catch a plane to JFK through Mexico no problem!
