After months of trying to be meticulous with the petition papers, I sent them out last week and think I filled out something wrong on a line to a question that probably wasn't the right answer to. On the g325-a petition when asking who the the father of the child was, I answered unknown. She was never married but had a kid out of wedlock. This was ten years ago, so we don't even know where the father is. Should I contact them about this or just wait it out for a response from USCIS?

There is no name on the birth certificate for the father because she explained to me that they purposely left it off so it wouldn't bring shame to the family.

Anyone else gone through this? What would have been the correct thing to do here?

You done alright. Since you write it uknown and as you've said there was no marriage and registration father's last name in the child's BC. They gonna ask her to submit CENOMAR, that will gonna be one proof that there's no really connection anymore with the father.

best of luck!

You are good to go. No father's name on the BC, your answer on the petition is then appropriate. Goodluck!
