Britain bans Likud's Moshe Feiglin from entering country

By Nadav Shragai, Haaretz Correspondent

Moshe Feiglin, leader of the Likud's Jewish Leadership faction, was recently notified in a letter from British Home Secretary Jacqui Smith that he has been banned from entering the U.K.

The letter, written by an unnamed Border and Immigration Agency official on Smith's behalf, said the agency "considered that you are seeking to provoke others to serious criminal acts and fostering hatred which might lead to inter-community violence in the U.K. ... This has brought you within the scope of the list of unacceptable behaviors," it was reported in the London Jewish Chronicle last week.

"In light of these factors, the Home Secretary is satisfied you should be excluded from the U.K. on the grounds that your exclusion is conducive to the public good. There is no right of appeal," the letter continued.

Smith based her decision on emergency laws introduced after a 2005 terrorist attack in London.

The Chronicle article quoted Feiglin as responding: "This is a British government problem, not mine. However, if somebody in Britain feels comfortable enough to do something like that, it should turn on some serious red lights in any British citizen who cares about democracy. Britain and America are letting in the real terrorists ... remember [iranian] President [Mahmoud] Ahmadinejad was allowed to speak at an American university."

The U.K. letter did not allege Feiglin had ever engaged in armed activities, but listed several quotes from articles he wrote, including one in which he calls for a holy war, now against Arabs, and another referring to the Prophet Muhammad as strong, cruel and deceitful.

In another quote cited in the letter, Feiglin wrote, Arabs are not sons of the desert but its father. They created the desert - everywhere they come vegetation stops and the wind blows everything away.

Feiglin acknowledged he wrote the statements, but said the reference to Arabs being the desert's father came from a 1938 book by Sir Claude Jarvis, then the British High Commissioner of Sinai.

The MK also told the Jewish Chronicle: "I almost feel honored, because of the way that the British government is behaving, to be marked as the bad guy by a government that supports terror. I see it almost as a compliment." He was referring to Britain's decision to allow entry to Ibrahim Mousawi, the editor of a Hezbollah journal, who visited the country on a speaking tour.

Feiglin told the paper that the letter "came out of the blue," and at first, he thought it might be a hoax.

"This is all very strange because I have no plans to visit Britain either in the short or long term. I have never been banned from anywhere else. In fact I am giving a lecture in Canada at the end of this month," Feiglin told the Jewish Chronicle.

The Home Office did not comment on its reasons for banning Feiglin from Britain, but issued a statement saying that the home secretary can exclude people whether or not they have applied to enter the country, while considering relevant information from other government departments and agencies.

Interesting

Israel has its share of fanatic zealots too it seems...

Indeed, some of the leading ideologues of the settlements, far from supporting the idea of a Jewish democracy, hope to establish a Jewish theocracy in Israel, ruled by a Sanhedrin and governed by Jewish law. Moshe Feiglin, a Likud activist who lives in a West Bank settlement and heads the Jewish Leadership bloc within the Party—he controls nearly a hundred and fifty of the Likud central committee’s three thousand members—believes that the Bible, interpreted literally, should form the basis of Israel’s legal system. “Why should non-Jews have a say in the policy of a Jewish state?” Feiglin said to me. “For two thousand years, Jews dreamed of a Jewish state, not a democratic state. Democracy should serve the values of the state, not destroy them.” In any case, Feiglin said, “You can’t teach a monkey to speak and you can’t teach an Arab to be democratic. You’re dealing with a culture of thieves and robbers. Muhammad, their prophet, was a robber and a killer and a liar. The Arab destroys everything he touches.”

Yes, they do. A lot of Americans don't understand all this.

The settlers are a minority among Israel's total population, but they have a lot of political pull -- their power and influence on Israel's government far exceeds their numbers.

I posted this article yesterday - about a group of ultra-orthodox jews who have been intimidating and even attacking their fellow jews who don't subscribe to their particular religious lifestyle.

Yes, I saw that. Unfortunately, incidents like this are not unusual in the settler communities.

It's even worse in the illegal West Bank settlements (especially in Hebron/Kiryat Arba) where these people walk around with automatic weapons and spend a lot of time provoking/assaulting their Palestinian neighbors. The peace movement has managed to capture some of these incidents on video -- you can find them posted up on You Tube.

Everybody needs Shas' support and they always get what they want.

Shas is not the only Israeli political party that espouses extremist views.

Likud (the Consolidation party --the right-wing party of Benjamin Netanyahu and formerly of Ariel Sharon, as well as the terrorists Menachem Begin and Yitzhak Shamir -- has always championed the settler faction. Likud's charter calls for Israel's annexation and settlement of the entire West Bank, Gaza Strip, Golan Heights, and all of Jerusalem. Most Likud members oppose Palestinian statehood.

Yisrael Beiteinu (Israel Our Home party) is another settler party -- these guys left Likud because it wasn't extreme enough. Led by racist wacko Avigdor Lieberman, they support the "transfer" of Arab Israeli citizens, either by "swapping" Arab communities near the Green Line -- stripping them of their citizenship -- in "return" for Israel keeping the illegal settlements in the West Bank.... or by "encouraging" Arabs to leave Israel. Lieberman has also called for Israel to bomb all Palestinian commercial centers (including banks and gas stations.)

Even Kadima (Forward, the so-called "moderate" party of Ehud Olmert, founded by Sharon and other longtime Likudniks) calls for Israel to take all of Jerusalem.

The majority of Israelis do not support these types of policies; however, the settler movement is entrenched in their political system (and throughout Israel's history, has far more power and influence over Israeli government policies than any other group.) When so many of the leaders themselves support the settler ideology, so goes the nation.

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

woot! immigration is a privilege!

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Um I don't think he was even asking to "immigrate" to the U.K. He's just been banned from traveling there, even as a visitor.
