Thank you in advance for taking the time to help me out!

We just received notice of our NOA2 (by email), and we're very excited! We weren't expecting it so soon, so we're scrambling a bit. I've only been back in the US for 4 months. I only have income for those months and resigned from my job last week (going back to Cambodia to be with Chai!).

We had always planned to use my mother for a sponsor. Is there any special notation we need to make on the I-134 form to denote that my mother is the sponsor but not the petitioner? What does the statement from her bank and her employment need to state? Do we need to fill out a I-134 as well or will one from my mother suffice? Is there any commonly overlooked details/submissions that people miss with the I-134?

The wonderful guidance we got from this community got us to NOA2 in only 3 months! This community is pure gold. We are forever in debt to the great people at visajourney.com!

Hi, Sam. Both you and your mother must fill a separate I-134. They will know you are the petitioner from your original application (you could also but a post it on your form which says "petitioner/sponsor" and one on your mother's that says "co-sponsor).

Bank letter should state, current balance, opening date (exact or approximate okay), amount of deposits for the last year (again estimate okay, probably = to your income).

Employer letter, how long you've been employed, full-time or part-time, & salary.

Its easiest to draft the letter and present it at the Bank or to your employer.

Hey there!

I'm in a somewhat similar position regarding the I-134. I'm looking at this form and I have -no freaking clue- where to begin. No clue. At all. The instructions are telling me that I basically need to earn way more money than I do now, and when I'm in the middle of finding a new job, in the middle of becoming independent from my parents... something tells me they're the ones that need to fill the majority of this form out.

From what I understand, both my mom/dad and I have to fill out our own I-134's 'cause I'm still a dependent of them. Right?

So um... I guess my two biggest concerns are "what do I put on mine, then?" and "will they frown upon us because I can't quite support myself right now, adding onto that how young I am (gonna be 19 in a week)"?

I realize these are probably questions I should have asked before sending the petition off six months ago XD; But what's done is done, and we're this far. I just don't want to screw it up, especially when I'm trying my hardest to get off of that platform that is my parents' money.

Thank you so much in advance for the help,

~Tricia

Shocked isn't the word for it... I just got my NOA2 after only a month. We're really weren't ready for it so I'm freaking out a bit. I don't have an income and never did. so i am going to have to use my dad as a co-sponsor .. first off since I am an dependent of my father does he have to make more so he can show he can support the 3 of us? Also how long do we have to live with the co-sponsor? can we change me to the sponsor once I get a full time job that pays enough? I am just getting my life in order. I was love struck and spent all my time and parents money on being with my fiance so now since the petition was approved so fast it caught me off guard. I am soo scared of this process. I just need some advise to make the NOA2 be more of a happy time then a scary time... Does this mean he should have his visa within 4 months? or am i jumping to conclusions?

thanks alot

Kelly

Honestly they don't care who is supporting, just that the beneficiary is being supported. It can be your parents, a friend, whatever. You don't have to live with them, and they only have to prove they can support the Beneficiary - the USC does NOT need to be included in the support amount. Age doesn't matter either!
