Hi I'm Laura, I live in Cambridgeshire, England and am a civil servant.

My other half, Tom, is in the US Air Force and I met him whilst he was stationed here. We have been together 9 months and he was posted to Bahrain a month ago. In total he is going to be there for a year and then will be going back to the States. We have talked about me going with him when he returns to the States so hopefully within the next six months I shall be applying for the K-1 visa. Am reading up on it at the moment and have found there is a lot to take in.

Welcome to Visa Journey! There is a lot to take in, so read the guides and if things are still a bit fuzzy you can post specific questions in the K1 forum.

Good luck on your journey!

Welcome Laura. I think military expedite is a good thing. However, if your SO is going to be stationed overseas for the next year, you may want to just normal processing. Once you receive the visa, it's only good for 6 months. So, you will have to enter the States before it expires. I think you're right on with your plans to file within the next 6 months. You are a rare case that actually has extra time. I recommend reading the guides carefully and begin collecting and organizing all evidence and other supporting documentation for your case. Good luck to you. You'll really like this site.
