It is my experience that most of DOS employees do not call it AP when you are in the name/security check process.

However, Cairo embassy employees do. Sometimes they call it necessary AP or mandatory AP in my emails. But what it means is the CO that you interviewed with has marked it for approval pending the clearance of all security and name checks. Which depending on how common your SO name is can take a short time or a long time.

Also my senator office said that if they get a hit during one of the checks the fingerprint is manually compared by a human rather than a computer like we see on CSI so depending on how many that person which is assigned to compare yours takes or how important they make it in comparison to their other assigned workload can vary. So all we can do is wait.

There is no defined system or timeframe.....just wait wait wait.

Good Luck.

MIne was hit almost everyday except their weekend. Then I got 4 emails Sunday the first 2 said the same thing on event .. arrived a facility, then the 3rd one said event.. processing at facility, then the 4th one said event... Depart facility and that meant it left!!! and was mailed to him. Also, when it arrived, it showed on the online DHL Worldwide tracking website 2 hours before I got the email. So go there first it is 2 hours ahead of your emails. So I think if its scanned and your getting emails and emails, that means they are working on it. Sounds like you will have it soon to me. I hope before next Monday.
