Ok, we have recieved an email from DHL every day since our interview showing movement. I called DOS today, and was told something odd. She said that our visa is cleared for issuance once his name check is done. Sooooooooooooooooo.....HUH???? I asked does this mean we are in AP? She said no. He is in the mandatory name check for Egypt and as soon as its complete the visa is approved for issuance. I thought that name check WAS AP. And how long are we looking at for it? Is it the checks with the fingerprints? Why are they moving our file every day if its in name check?? Im soo confused....I guess thats the CCC's of Cairo,,,,Checks, Confusion and Craziness.

yah ! Confusing !!! I always thought that when you were in AP ... it meant that they were doing the background checks (theres way too many to count) and that was the time after the interview and before they requested something else or issued the visa... but from my own personal experience with DOS... most of them talking to us dont have a clue about anything... a number of times the women at DOS told me when i called that Adam never showed up for his interview... yadda yadda... and I would practically yell at them bcz they told me that every week.... YES HE DID SHOW UP AND HE WAS APPROVED!!! so they would be like Ok mam hold on and let me check the computer.... I was thinking... ummmmm dont u supposed to check the computer BEFORE you tell me nonsense !!!

I think what we call ap and what they call ap are two different things. The way I'd take it is that they approved him pending the name check. That's a very good thing and means no AP hell for you.

For me, they did the name check in washington and then proceded to validate every fartin' thing on his application. They have checked his schools, his former places of employment, his neighborhood, ..........I'm waiting for the full body cavity search next.

Be grateful and get ready for him. :)

Interview was Feb 11th.

DOS said we were in name checks last week.

This week they said that Washington is finished and he is clear and the embassy is waiting for the officer's final review,

whatever that means.

There is really no way to predict but if you are in name checks, that takes at least a month from your interview

date with CONDOR.

So you have at least to April if your interview was the 6th to get through name checks.

Good Luck...........

Who knows what happens to us next in the final review. I guess it depends on the officer.

We could be sent for more AP or homechecks or etc..........it's all left up to the officer.

If you love me, then I have everything I need

(((Anas (radiallaahu anhu) reported that the Prophet (sallallaahu alaihi wasallam) said: "The amount of reward is in accordance with the amount of suffering. When Allah (SWT) loves some people, He tries them (with affliction). He who then is content (with Allah's decree) has achieved the acceptance (of Allah), and he who is dissatisfied (with Allah's decree) will attain the anger (of Allah)." [Tirmithee ])))

MashaAllah . that really wonderful Hadith

Thats what I thought to...that if the dhl is scanned in embassy it means sth is happening....but yet DOS says we are in a name check BUT the visa is approved to be issued pending its outcome...so maybe they are checking each day for the completion of that???? Im still hoping for fast visa...but also understand it can take months to clear...but we DID ahve a name hit at NVC level and held up for a month and they cleared it THEN....so Im just hoping we aren't going to stall. Im sure we wont be held up with home visits and such...or un needed AP....just worried...im like everyone else...I just want him home. My mom is going downhill fast and so is my dad...he'd love to meet them and know them before its to late. To much longer and they wont remember him. Im just thankful for the "touches" each day from the file movement. LOL...how desperate does THAT sound...

Well there is never the same waiting period for anyone... but hopefully they are finished with the name checks and whatever else checks they do and they send his visa soon. I dont even understand why some people are asked for the movement certificate and most of the egyptian guys are not asked for it .... so to me, nothing makes sense... and we are all stucking trying to figure them all out...

I agree..thats what makes this such a hard time...not knowing...and then all the different things you hear...Im not sure theres any true way they take. I just know it was approved...pending name checks...so Im assuming that means no home visits or additional AP. but we all know how that goes..I jsut wondered if anyone else had experience with the dhl emails...

do they stop when u are in name checks or AP? Or do you continue to get emails when it moves? does anyone know how this works??? For sure???

the dhl emails are a new thing so as far as I know you and a few others are the first to be able to experience knowing when your case is touched. For most of us that have been at it for a while, our dhl numbers don't work that way.

Yes, I think that's right. Usually in other regional forums, what we often refer to here as Administrative Processing (AP) is called Administrative Review (AR). Most people, for example, going through Morocco, only undergo AP, while most people going through Egypt undergo both AP and AR.
