2007 Tax Return

I haven't done my taxes yet for 2007, and will have to send my I-864 soon along with the tax returns and W-2s to the NVC. I called the IRS yesterday, and they can obviously send me 2004, 2005, and 2006. Do I need to send the 2007 tax return? I have my current W-2s. 2007 was my best year financially since in 2004, 2005, and 2006 I was in school and probably made below the poverty level. However right now I currently have a good job making above the poverty level. So what would be efficient to send with the I-864? I can definitely send current W-2s and a letter of employment for 2007 and 2008, but how important is the 2007 tax return since right now is tax season? Any suggestions?

I currently sent the AOS fee bill and DS-3032 via email so I'm not sure how much time I will have until the next step.

Since 2007 was the best year financially you should try to file your taxes now and send copies of your tax returns and W2s. Copies of the W2s alone are not valid.

Thanks Diane for answering all my questions on here and on other posts. Maybe they seem like stupid ones but I just want everything to go smoothly. So if i do my taxes now for 2007 will I be able to have a copy of my 2007 tax return right away from the person who is doing them? Or do I have to wait on IRS?

You do not have to wait on the IRS. I was in a similar position last year with my 2006 taxes. I filed my 2006 taxes online and submitted a copy of my completed 2006 taxes with a note that 2006 transcripts were not yet available from the IRS. We didn't have any problems.

No matter who does your taxes, whether it's an acountant, yourself, online, on paper, H&R Block, etc. you will have the choice of printing several copies of your tax returns to keep for yourself. In fact, you should do this regardless so you can have your own copies just in case.

I think I went a little overboard by trying to give NVC extra info instead of missing info. This is what I did-

I sent a copy of my tax returns , w2 and w7 form for year 2007 and also transcripts of years 2006, 2005 and 2004 from IRS. The instructions on I-864 did say the most recent three tax returns so in my understanding 2007 had be included without fail.

Hope that helps.
