Hi all,

i am a bit concerned because my K1 documents were sent by NVC on February 20th and i have kept calling the consulate in Ecuador and they still do not show any record of them receiving the case. How long does it take? When should i be concerned. They tell me it could take several weeks but i rather hear it from you guys than them because too often they know less of what they are talking about than you guys! How long has it taken you?

They are shipped by DHL and arrive in a matter of days. However, it may take longer go to through customs. In China, it takes about 3 months for them to finally clear customs and arrive at the embassy.

Hey RickNV!!! Let's keep each other updated so at least we could have someone to vent with. I've seen other people get their documents sent over in a matter of days and all of a sudden it starts taking longer. This sucks! Anyways, i wish you the best! i've been calling them everyday and they've told me that they give it about 6 weeks before they begin an investigation with NVC as to why it has not reach them yet. The lady told me last that hopefully by next week it should be coming in. Hopefully that includes yours also!

I would just call and say that DHL show the package as delivered on the 25th. I wouldn't offer any other info, although I'm sure NVC and USCIS are well aware we have figured out the trick by now!

...otherwise you can keep on waiting and waiting while they tell you it hasn't arrived. Your call. Just trying to help :)

you got it! thank you so much! i'm just concerned that they may have lost these packages or that they are holding on to these on purpose and delaying things.

Who knows why any of the govt agencies do what they do?

It could be they are very behind on processing, and are trying to "buy time"...wouldn't surprise me!

Unless the U.S. government has a waiver, I do know that "immigration papers" are subject to Customs duties when sent to Ecuador (for example, by DHL). Ecuador is rather strict about their surprisingly long list of dutiable items, which include photographs! Therefore, Customs could be holding or processing packages, and the consulate could experience delays in receiving the packages and is perhaps getting many at once. This is speculation on the basis of known information and educated guessing.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

If this is the case it sucks cause i sent about 65 pictures with my file. Anyways i called them up and they now gave me a different story once i told them i had a tracking number. They told me that the consulate also has to review my documents before they send anything out. Of course, i do not believe everything they say cause they have not given me a straight honest answer o far. Either way one thing that the customer rep did tell me was that i could go ahead and download the packet 4 documents and have my fiancee fill them out. As a way also to help speed up the process she could go ahead and collect the police report and have her medical exam done so that there is less of a wait. i hope this helps others.

True, however the DHL website shows these particular packages as being delivered to the embassy, and signed for. Not just received at the Port. :)
