Folks,

I was thinking of starting this thread to keep a summary of all common RFEs/mistakes/lessons learned during the NVC Process. Please send your comments and I will keep a running tally ( Similar to earlier ones that summarize dates for I-130 for particualr months etc). Since this (NVC process is the most time consuming part of the whole process (besides the I-130 debacles due to overload of apps), I think we can all save some critical time if we share our experiences.

* FYI - I am having trouble updating my timeline...I am pursuing the IR1-CR1 Route and my case is with NVC currently.

Some recent RFE/suggestions ones that I have read are :

1) 2 photos need to be sent with DS-230

2) Forgetting to write "present" in the form

Please send in as you experince them and I will keep the tally going! (*if anyone has any other ideas to do somethign like this, perhaps in a more efficient manner, open to suggestions)

Cheers - Panki

On the Childrens the letter needs to be notorized if you do not have the offical Custody papers. In my case FYI the mom had custody per the divorce decree but were allowed to immigrate with my petition becasue we sent the notorized letter to the NVC allowing for this. WE did a letter that was basic and included a copy of the mom's id from Colombia.

Why is it that the only one who can stop the crying is the one who started it in the first place?

This is really helpful. I hadn't thought about it before and it applies in our case. Thanks for the heads up! :star:

Unless the other parent is dead once your case gets to the NVC they will ask you for a notorized document allowing the child to immigrate to the US ( Unless you are the parent ). NO it is not listed and if you look at my time line I received and RFE for not sending this document. Also depending on the country you are from you may need a document for the child to leave the country. PLease fill in your timeline :)

Is it mandatory to send custody pepers if my wife immigrates together with my child? I haven't seen any documents saying about this.
