Still confused

May be admins can help us... here in GUIDES Cection we found an article called "Adjustment of Status Guide (K1 & K3 Visa Holders)" where according to check list we needed to submit only two photos .. "Two passport-type photos (see specification) of the Non US Citizen Spouse. Write the full name on the back. Place in a plastic bag and label the bag "Photo of <Insert Name>". Attach the bag to a sheet of paper and place behind the corresponding G-325a.".... filing I-129F we followed VisaJourney K-1 check list and it helped us alot.. thank you for that and that's why we did everything according to Adjustment of Status Guide (K1 & K3 Visa Holders) check list this time again

but everyone here tells us that we needed to sent 6 photos....

Our understanding was that if you send I-765 and I-131 with your I-485: then you need only 2 photos, but if you submit I-765 and I-131 separately, then you need two pictures for each application...

so our question- if we needed 6 photos then why GUIDES Section didn't have this information?

Really don't want to recieve REF as it will take more time before I recieve EAD so i can help my husband with our family budget ;)

Thank you in advance

Each form I-485, I-765, and I-131 need to be treated as separate cases, they cannot share anything, that is passport photos, copies of I-94 card, ect.

I-485, I-765, and I-131 are separated at the mail center, tagged, and sent off to the appropriate department and officer for processing, what would the do with just 2 photos? Send them off with the I-485? then What about the I-131, and I-765, they would not have their required photos?

Again treat them as if they were sent separately, no sharing anything.

Then why not to put 2 photos required to each form in GUIDE section ;) + passport copies, copies of I-94 card as well.... I can't find this information in GUIDE section.. can you? what we found is only copy of the non US Citizen Spouses Passport (biographical page as well as entry stamps), copy of the non US Citizen Spouses K-1 or K-3 Visa from Passport, and a copy of the non US Citizen Spouses valid I-94 (front and back copies), two passport-type photos ...

and nothing about to attach copies and pictures to I-765, and I-131?

Personally I would send the proposed forms together along with the two photos and take heed of the guidelines/checklist as what you have done - what others say might work for them but not necessarily for everyone. That's just my opinion. I am not filing for AOS as of yet, but my lawyer only needed two photos so he could file that along with all the forms once I adjust. It saves on costs. RFEs can happen for any reason, but don't allow it to happen by a way of reason for sending in 6 photos on a basis of three separate applications sent... it will also save any delays from getting your EAD if you send all the forms in together.

I'm sorry I wasn't much help but my thoughts...the best of luck to you

You need....

2 photos for the AOS

2 photos for the EAD

2 photos for the AP

That is why they are telling you 6 photos. Attach 2 photos to each form so that when they get seperated at the intake cneter, you will have the appropriate number of photos with each form. If not, you are going to get a RFE or two or three....................

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

You only get one trip

Thank you for understanding  Exactly- we just took heed of the guidelines/checklist... we did it with I-129F and it worked perfectly :) ... My point was... to change a check list to add this important issues- 2 photos and copies of passport and I-94 to each application ... so there will be no more silly questions about photos

I-485 guide specifies 2 for the I-485

I-765 guide specifies 2 for the I-765

There is no I-131 guide, but if you read the directions included with I-485, I-765, I-131, each form's directions tells you to include a pair of photos with the form.

I am sorry... but we didn't even look at that guides as we needed Adjustment of Status Guide (K1 & K3 Visa Holders) only!!! as it is calling as Adjustment of Status Guide (K1 & K3 Visa Holders)

(Also explains concurrent filing for an EAD and Advanced Parole)

The guide here on VJ is just that.... a guide, it is not the full filling instructions.. you will find those on the instruction pages that come with each application.... the idea is you get a general overview of what you need to do to file for AOS from the guide here at VJ and then you download and read the instructions for each application... if you then still have questions, you post those questions here on VJ...

But you do have to take responsibility for ensuring you know what is required to file for AOS and not just go with the basic info provided here....

It (the AOS Guide) also says...

13. I-765, Application for Employment Authorization, if you want to work while your application is processed (optional)

>> Include any additional required supporting documentation or photos as well as payment as noted here.

14 I-131, Application for Travel Document, if you need to travel outside the United States while your application is processed (optional)

>> Include any additional required supporting documentation or photos as well as payment as noted here.

Perhaps some of the 'confusion' stems from the fact that these links ('as noted here' portion of each of the above statements) are broken.

It is very important that you read each application and the guide to each application in order to understand what you require. It sounds to me like your lawyer is only applying for the 485 and NOT the AP or the EAD for you. If that is the case, then yes, you only need 2 photographs. If you want permission to travel and return home (AP) while you are waiting for the AOS, then you need to include 2 photographs for the AP. If you wish to work then you are required to submit separate photographs for that as well. USCIS may eventually take the photograph when they do the biometrics but at this stage of the game, they are not.

If you wish to follow the advice of someone who has not yet gone through the process rather than the advice of all of us who have as well as the guidelines here at VJ based on thousands of individual experiences, that is your choice. Regardless of whether or not you use a lawyer you owe it to yourself to read over the forms and their instructions. As many people on this list will tell you, lawyers can and do make mistakes and in many cases, their errors have caused serious problems as well as long delays for their clients.

The answer is neither 2, 4 or 6. It's two for each application, so in this case three sets of two.

I don't wish to follow advice of somebody else... anyway we sent two photos only following "Adjustment of Status Guide (K1 & K3 Visa Holders) (Also explains concurrent filing for an EAD and Advanced Parole)" and not somebodyelse advice... I am just telling that we did this mistake with photos because guide didn't tell it.. so my advice to add simple phrases to this gude so people will not do same mistake I did...

Ok, I understand. It can be confusing when trying to figure out each form altogether.
