Planning to use the example fiancee letter of intent.

My fiancee is from Peru and does not write english. Should I write it for her in english and send it to her via email and have her sign it and return it, or does it have to be written in her native language? Please advise...........thanks

I believe that it should be in English, or if she sends it in her native language it should be translated in English. Do you speak her language also?If you don't, they will ask you how could you have a relationship and not be able to communicate.

Probably the best bet is to have her write something in her native language and then have it translated by a certified translator.

The letter can be very short and simple, you just have to show you have intent to marry within 90 days of entry to the USA.

That's great you speak her language, yes, I agree the letter should be simple stating she intends to merry you and translated in English.

You can write one letter for both of you and then you both can sign it.

I actually wrote it in english for her and then faxed it to her and she signed it and she faxed it back to me. That was apparently okay.

I'm not recommending this but just conveying that it worked for me.

I had a similar question when I was putting together my petition. My fiance' and I composed his letter together, but he wrote it in his native language and then I had it translated into English and notarized. At the time, I didn't want to make it seem (falsely) like my fiance' is fluent in English and I also didn't want to make it seem like I was speaking for him. I think the best thing to do is to have her write it herself and then fax it to you or mail it and you can have it translated I also think that if you show phone records proving that you speak frequently on the phone when you're apart and e-mails showing that you communicate in Spanish no one will wonder how you speak to one another.

According to my lawyer only the USC needs to submit a letter of intent. He had me notarize it also.

Wow I'm surprised that they accepted that since it isn't an 'original' signature. Maybe they didnt know it was faxed. good thing it worked out though

Nope, it was an obvious fax signature. Like I said, I don't recommend this for everyone.
